Update 5/8/26:
Even after the full transmission rebuild, I’m still feeling that jolt coming from under the seats. I took the truck back to the dealer yesterday, and both the service advisor and the mechanic confirmed they felt the issue during a test drive.
They now suspect the differential is the culprit. They’ve already dropped the diff cover to inspect the fluid; so far, they said everything looks normal, but they are currently waiting on parts. The advisor was pretty brief about the next steps, but it sounds like a differential rebuild might be the plan of action. I’ll keep you guys posted once I know more. I did mention to the Service advisor maybe the Slip yoke needed to be grease but he was adamant that it might be the differentials.

I would check your engine fan clutch wiring for damage. If the clutch hose breaks, the fuse that feeds the oil pump solenoid and other circuits, usually blows.

Welp that lasted about 3 hours just dropped it back off to the dealership
So rebuilding the rear end didn't fix the defective transmission 🤔.

So you've had the entire rear end of your truck rebuilt and/or replaced and this is still happening. You feel like something is hitting you from behind when you're coming to a stop.

I mean... picture a crazy man with a foil hat on saying this because I don't know what I'm saying. I'm like the anti-airline tech. But do you think it's possible your bed is not fully attached?

This happened to me all too often when my transmission was misbehaving. hard shifts and coming to a stop it felt like i was being rear ended. I had lots of other symptoms as well.

I had thoughts of slop in my differential, but it was all in the transmission.

Swapped out Pan for PPE deep pan, added a FitzStick, new fluid and filter, then added LubeGard Platinum, and it all went away.

This all happened before 18K miles on the Odometer. I began to notice slight symptoms at 5K, by 12K I was very concerned, by 15K I stopped driving it any distance, esp in the summer heat. Winter was far milder. Bought a ScanGauge III, and started tracking Fluid temps, Target and Actual Slip, which allowed me to correlate the symptoms to higher fluid temps, which I am attempting to permanently resolve right now. Fluid Temp target is 150F-165F range. No higher. The transmission loves operating in this range, and the fluid will last far longer too.

Noticed it at times with my Tom Woods solid draft shaft too. Esp will topping and dropping down one particular hill when I throttled down just after the crest (taking load off the drive train) - I'd get a single clunk. I greased the splines to correct that particular instance.

I think that I am close to resolving most of the issues Ford engineered into my 2020 Ranger.

Good luck figuring it out.
