Yeah looks like the thermostat is 198f. Assuming that is when it should be fully open but maybe not until 200-210f even.

I never looked it up prior but assumed it was about that temp because of my temps around town.

Towing with your larger trailer will be the true test as it will be for me too. Wondering if there is a 180F thermostat I can get.

I ran across their product when looking up radiators. A 5g member put the 170F unit in without issues it seems but I am ok with the stock thermostat. The most I would probably consider is a 180F unit but that is such a critical part of the ECU inputs I rather not mess with it.

What bothers me is being over 220F for hours even if the needle on the gauge is still below 50%. I would prefer the temps to be as close to the thermostat temp as possible.

I will have a towing trip this summer that will fully test the new radiator. I am excited to see if the temps stay under 220F when it is over 100F towing. Really just need about a 10F drop in temps for that so I think it SHOULD happen. That will also help the engine oil and trans temps too.

I believe so this is why I have gone down this rabbit hole, the wife already asked if I want a new truck go figure normally I would have jumped at this. I have a hard time parting with 65 to 75 thousand at 61 so I will work with what I have. Temps here is Texas stay in the mid to upper 90s after July so all the more reason to do what I have been doing.

Yeah, my wife wants a full size truck for interior space but we don't want to spend that money and I prefer the Ranger/mid-size anyway. I guess in a perfect world I would have a tow vehicle and then the Ranger for day to day. We have pre-teen twin boys to worry about more than an expensive truck.

Had a loaner F150 fx4 hybrid for something like a month when they did my engine, the interior was massive but I didn't care for it around town. Honestly, over bumps the Ranger felt more planted and firm than the FX4 F150. Granted I have Fox shocks and 33" tires but still, the Ranger is great.

Towing on the F150 was PERFECT/effortless for our 19ft travel trailer but I don't tow enough to give up the Ranger. The Ranger tows our trailer very good, I wouldn't want a larger (heavier) trailer or I may not be able to keep my 65-68mph towing speed. I don't mind going slower but when the hwy speed is 75 or 80mph and I am at 65-68mph on a two lane hwy, I hate being that guy.

Funny thing too was the MPG towing was not THAT different than the Ranger, the difference was the size of the fuel tank. I hate that our trucks only have 18 gallons. Even 20-22 gallons would have been worth paying extra for.

Somebody on this forum exceeded 100k and never touched the trans fluid. I hope they chime in.

I had my 10R80 reflashed as part of a TSB in 2022. It cured the erratic shifting and didn't need the shift drum fix, and It's been fine ever since. I don't tow or load it heavy, but I had the trans fluid changed, among other things, first time at 84,000. The manual calls for the 1st fluid change at 150,000, but I envisioned it looking like metalflaked tar at that point. Folks on here that tow or haul frequently change it more often, but others are running over 100k miles with the original fluid. My truck acts no differently after the fluid change, but I also had them change the fluid in both diffs and the xfer case, and it is noticeably quieter.

The reason why is I was talking to the transmission place and we had a long talk about changing out my pan and such he told me there is a chance it could cause issues. He also said that the pan on it is a better pan because it is smooth it just has me kinda freaked out as I have absolutely no issues with my transmission.
