About to hit 70k on my 2019, and half of those miles are towing. Changed fluid at 60k. No issues or unexpected behavior other than the usual 10R80 quirks.

I'm curious, anyone ever put a different transmission other than a 10R80 in a Ranger?

unfortunately not unheard of. many make it well past the 100k miles point before failure, many others don't.

the 2019 10R80 didn't get the updated parts that arrived in 2022/2023. the CDF drum got updated and then i think there was a bearing or sleeve or something that also got updated. there are weaknesses in the throttle body design that still haven't been addressed (supposedly) and can cause issues on even a brand new 10R80 -- though the 2024+ F-150s with the 10R80 appear to be doing much better with the aforementioned updates.

6th gen rangers abandoned the 10R80 and went to a 10R60 that also appears to be doing much better.

i also have a 2019 ranger like you. lately it has been misbehaving a lot more (96k miles). sorry to hear that this one bit you. hopefully you have some kind of powertrain warranty coverage. it's a good truck! the transmission just sucks nuggets.

I have a 2019 ranger shifting hard. I got a front to back warranty and probably gonna have to replace the tranny. My question is what transmission is the replacement for this year that won't have future issues because of all the prior issues with this year? Is there one I can ask the mechanic to use? I'm not familiar with the verbage needed. I'd appreciate any advice

I’m sure it would bolt up but the peripherals and electronics would probably be a challenge. But why would you spend the money on a new 10R60 when you could buy a new 10R80 that had all the updates for the same money?

10R60 is a revamped, lighter version of the 10R80, and is used in 6G Rangers and Broncos.
Mine 24 shifts so smoothly that it's hardly noticeable in normal driving.
