People who think the 5G Ranger is small and cramped must have never driven a 4G Ranger, or an early model F150 from the 90's or before.
I was at an old car show this past summer and a guy had a 1959 DeSoto Adventurer there. He had a sign board next to it with the specs, and I wish I had taken a picture of it. It was within fractions of my Scab: 126' WB, curb wt, 4403 lb overall length ~220", and the track and width ware close to today's F-150!
It was gorgeous.
I did a comparison once between a 1946 Ford Fordor and my 2015 Flex SEL that I had. Very close, except the Flex was a little wider and quite a bit heavier.

I was so sad when my family of four outgrew my 88 Ranger with the inside facing rear seats. This is all before car seats until six and trucks all had two doors no matter how big the cab was.

I sold my F150 to a family member before I bought my Ranger. Yesterday I drove my old F150 again, I realized again what a nice truck it is, that said, I bought the Ranger because I needed a lighter truck to pull behind my Motorhome, easier to park on my garage and much better in crowded parking lot. It is not as well engineered and doesn’t have to amenities my F150 had. I do like the Ranger and it does all the things I wanted of it.

I was just saying last night that I miss my 2016 F150. I love my Ranger, and it's so much more practical now that I live in a temperate city and park in a parking garage. But still, that 16 F150 was damn near perfect.

1940's and older?
I've ridden in 1958 crew cab. Been around at least that long.
