Tires rub on fender lining when turning in reverse or hard turning in forward?

Lowered my truck, 3" in front. My wheels are -24mm offset with 265/50/20 tires. I most definitely had to remove my stock crash bars, LOL! I did install Ready Lift ones, but removed them too, due to less than 1/2" clearance lock to lock, sitting still in the garage... I didn't want the tires to grab the new bars, once moving, with suspension travel.

Anyway, when I removed the OEM bars, I also removed those big plastic rear wheel liner thingys. When I put it in reverse and turn slightly, you can hear the tires rubbing the liners. Yesterday, I had to make a sharp u-turn and I could also hear them rubbing then as well.

Easiest fix is to trim the liners and spray some black paint in there to cover the grayish looking metal.

Is there a fix that isn't the easiest route? I'd prefer not to trim them, but if I have too, I just have too?

Thanks!

Unless you want to move to zero offset wheels, this might be your only option…

I don't have any scissors that large, what ever will I do????

Yea, I'm not changing wheels, as these wheels were one of the reasons I did this build!

Guess I'll hack them off this weekend :(

Many people ask about lowering the Ranger, but you are the first I hear that did it.
Pictures please!

When I still had my stock fenders I removed the crash bars and the plastic blocks behind each fender liner and I rubbed in reverse at full lock, so I used one of the bolts that bolted the plastic block in and poked a hole in the fender liner and stuck that bolt through the hole of the fender liner and tightened it down in it's bolt hole but without the plastic block and it pushed the liner back more than it would have with the block and it gave me enough room not to rub. Have you tried this?

Negative, I am not the first one. Look at my build thread or the lowered thread.

I haven't tried that yet, but wondered if it would work and you just answered that question :). I was thinking about using a shorter bolt beforehand though.

I might have used a shorter bolt with the same thread. Sounds like something I would do, but can't remember.

Jason,

I had to wait until I got off work to share pics of it.

These are the most recent pics I have of it:

I bought shorter bolts today, but when I went to actually pull the liners in, it seemed like the OEM bolt worked? Haven't tested it yet, but it should work? The bolts are past where the crash bars were originally mounted, so I think that'll work, I'll definitely know tomorrow!

IIRC I just kept turning that bolt and it went all the way.
