Hello all,
I was surfing around Y tube and came across a bunch of videos on wet rubber timing belts!
(A rubber timing belt that runs through or exposed to oil)
I understand that is what the Rangers have! Has anyone had any time belt issues?
I did a search and did not find anything on it here. The Trans issue is bad enough! Don't need to
add any more problems to this.

From what I understand this is on the 2.7 not the 2.3 engine

That would be good to know.
I will look into that a little more.
Maybe that is why I could not find anything here on it.

The trans problem is enough to make me want to trade it!

It uses a timing chain, the wet belt is for the oil pump on the 2.7 not the 2.3

You can see the accessory belt on the front of the 2.3, does it look wet?

There is no timing belt on the 2.3L engine. There is a timing chain for the camshafts and the oil pump is gear driven off of the crankshaft. No need to worry.

Just get yourself a bicycle or some medication to help with your manufactured anxiety.

I'm not sure why manufactures would chose a rubber belt instead of a chain. The GM baby max has a belt driven oil pump too. Doesn't take much to burn up an engine when it has no oil pressure.

Just get yourself a bicycle or some medication to help with your manufactured anxiety.
One can avoid that by simply not driving your Ranger.....just leave it in a garage, and all the anxiety is a non-issue.
You also avoid getting it wet, dirty, avoid tree sap, acorns, leaves ever touching the truck. No worries about bird poopie or insects hitting it.
And of course, no worries about random aircraft parts or meteors falling on it.

Or, you can stop worrying about trying to find stuff to worry about.....and simply DRIVE and ENJOY your truck !!!!!!!!!!!

Reason for the concern, I don't trade vehicles often. I run them as long as I can.
Wet belts just seem to be a bad idea. I love the Range, just want to keep it as long as I can.
I read somewhere here that car makers don't want you keep them too long! it's bad for business!
I get that but, when a car or truck cost as much as some houses, that is crazy.

I choose the latter. But Oppie is my daily driver and only 4-wheel vehicle, so....

Watch this and never worry about your engine again and start worrying about your transmission like the rest of us.

So, Valvoline standard dino oil sucks.
