That sucks and I get frustrated seeing this stuff.

Get it filled/painted with a warranty - many now offer lifetime warranty.
I had a bedside replaced after I slid sideways into a yellow post - you know the ones…. Took a lot longer, and the amount of surgery required to cut off the old one and spot-weld on a new on was only done as it was absolutely necessary. Then had to go back because the spot welds at the top along the inside of the bed rail began to rust. The smaller repair shouldn’t hit your car fax either.

The scratches are all the way through the paint. A blind person could read it.
That sucks. It wasn’t easy to see from the pic was why I asked and was hopeful for you that is all it was. Get it fixed with a guarantee from the dealer and see what kind of perks you can get thrown in for your frustration and inconvenience….using their service that was suppose to be for convenience!

I posted in another thread... In my area, Ford Dealership after dealership get horrible service reviews.
Even if the dealership's sales department gets good reviews, the service departments are scary.
And I have about 10 Ford dealerships within an hour drive.
Something has got to change.

So... I needed my oil changed. Was having a hard time finding the time to get it to the dealer. (Still utilizing the dealer for routine maintenance for warranty adherence.)

They offer valet, so against my better judgement, I took advantage of them coming to work and picking up the truck. (You've probably already deduced what happened.)

They brought it back to my work and parked it in the parking lot.

I went out 30 minutes later to move it to a safe area and to my surprise there was a big 'ol scrape on the rear quarter panel and tail light .

Shaking, I immediately called the dealer.

They didn't dispute that it happened on their watch, they apologized and said they would take care of it. They said it must have happened in their parking lot. (...whatever)

I'd like the whole side replaced, but am not familiar with that would entail.

They will most likely repaint the quarter panel. Which I guess I'm okay with, IF they can get it back to where I can't even notice there was a repair AND guarantee it will last as long as the factory paint.

What are all of your knowledgeable thoughts folks?
It is disappointing it happened and twice as frustrating you had to call them on it.

The good news is they owned up to it. I might try taking a stress pill and give them a chance to make it right.

It doesn’t look like anything a good body shop can’t fix like new in a couple of days work.

I don't let anyone else drive my truck any more than necessary. My wife once in a while but actually I don't worry about her.

If there's no dent the transfered paint MIGHT come off without the need to repaint.

I understand the stress this can cause. Had a bad experience with a Harley service dept that left me just as pissed as you seemed to be. The only advice i can give is, The damage has already been done so let them handle the problem. Be sure let them know you expect the repairs to be done to a high standard. Hope it all goes well Bullet.

Sorry that happened to you but that's why no one drives my truck except me. I actually have tried to get my wife to drive the new Ranger a couple times but she refuses and just says , " I'm NOT driving your truck !" .
I think the fact that I took 10 minutes videoing the inside and outside of the F-150 the only time she drove it made her nervous .
My plan is working :)

This sucks. But they'll fix it up for you.
I was a little upset with my dealership the last time I was there, never going again.
Not sure about you guys but they always send a email asking how the service was.
I never got one this time :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

It sucks that this happened to you. It is an easy fix though, and you have to give the dealership respect for taking responsibility for it and not trying to say it could have happened after they dropped it off. One thing you have to remember is that it was brought back by a porter who doesn't know your vehicle, and probably had no idea if it was new damage or old. I know you are angry about the damage and I don't blame you one bit because you have the right to be. I will just say this, if they do a good job fixing it, that is a dealership worth going to because they don't hide from their mistakes, and take care of their customers. Let us know how it works out.

Get in writing from the dealer that they'll be footing the bill. The dealer likely has a sublet shop they use for collision repair; or they have a shop onsite- regardless, request to bring it to a collision shop of your choice. Make the dealer provide you a loaner (this will ensure it gets done quickly, not back-burnered.) The dealer sublet shop might do it on the cheap if it's a dealer paid repair, which will end up looking like shit.

Both Velocity and Lightning blue can be tricky to match; they're going to need to respray the entire bedside, and the case could be made for a blend on the tailgate- color match is tricky when you've essentially got 3 different substrates to refinish (alu, steel, plastic.)

Hope the best for you.
