I wish my local ford dealer was as top notch as yours. Lithia Ford Fresno would not even discuss the possibility about replacing my failing battery. Three visits for extensive testing and then stopped returning my calls.
That's crazy, do you have any others close by? I was happy that Peoria Ford was great to deal with because the customer service industry as a whole is sub par out here.

Have another 10 miles away but got soured on them when in March2019 went Ranger shopping there and they had a $5000 make up over MSRP on all Rangers they had on the lot. I walked away and never been back! AZ I like your profile pic. Here is one I took in your neck of the woods. Can you name the spot?

After a while the desert all looks the same to me but I'll take a stab and say somewhere in the east valley near the Superstition Mountains?

Hey WhiteRanger, thanks for the reply. Yes, replacing the battery fixed all the ills I was experiencing. My resting battery voltage jumped from 12.3 to 13.3VDC after battery change. I am a little pissed that my local Ford dealer would not even consider battery replacement during my numerous visits. I can now used my 12VDC power ports for two hours after key is turned off without any warnings, After battery install, I decided to leave the pigtail connection on the negative post undone because I found this is a easy way to disable the auto start/stop function, and does not seem to effect other functions (see other posts detailing this)
The dealer is very limited with battery replacement. Unless it fails on ford’s approved testers, you arent getting a new battery. They are very strict with battery replacement and will find any excuse to deny a claim.

so you dont have to replace with an AGM battery????? what is the purpose o changing to AGM by ford? the cost is much higher so there must be a reason the bean counters didn't veto the extra cost of AGM. how do you disable the battery management to make it give a full charge?
Correct, do not need to replace with an AGM battery. Good thing is with a traditional Flooded design you can disable the battery management to allow the alternator to keep it charged 100% all the time without adverse performance degredation to the battery over its lifetime. To disable, simply unplug the pigtail on the negative terminal when the ignition is fully off. If do it with ignition on it will throw a code you’ll need to clear, but after clearing it doesn’t come back.

I too have pondered on why would the bean counters at Ford go away from cheaper Flooded battery options for AGM...

AZ, not sure what part of AZ your in. This was taken below Spirit Mountain about 6 miles west of Bullhead City (Actually in NV) If you ever drive to Vegas, I recommend taking the 'Christmas Tree Pass' road/trail off 163 and drops you on 95 just south of Searchlight. The route has some impressive Indian Petrographs and there is area where the Juniper trees are decorated with ornaments

That's about 4 hours from me. To bad because we just came home that way last October from our UT trip. We stopped in Vegas on our way home for a few days and was close to that area. I'll keep in in mind as we're most likely going back up to UT once I get my Bronco.

Well It hasn't been much better than the original Ford battery. I purchased the upsized Lariat Interstate battery from Costco, and it lasted about 2 years, then the same, 'Shutting off accessories to save battery' message started appearing after about 20 minutes when running the radio with the engine off. I took the Interstate battery back to Costco for a warranty exchange but was told the Interstate AGM battery was not available due to a fire at the manufacturing facility. Costco fully refunded the purchase price. Since I needed a battery (Costco took the faulty battery back) I went to the local Ford dealership, and bought a replacement from them. Unfortunately I did not have the core battery to give them, so it cost me about $30 difference from the Costco refund and the out the door price from Ford. It has been about 9 months since the replacement, and I am noticing that the auto start/stop is starting to not function, which with my experience is a tail-tale sine the battery is not up to snuff. The Ford battery has a 3 year warranty, but my experience with Ford is that they will say most anything not to warranty their battery, and with my truck being out of factory warranty, it probably will require a charged service to verify the battery is the problem. My battery issues are the only complaint I have with my Ranger, and I have decided if I have to replace the AGM battery every couple years, so be it.

My stock battery died after about two years replaced under warranty the best / only good thing about it is at least it gives us a lot of warning it was about a month and a half of "shutting blah blah off the save battery" before the radio would only run 5 minutes - thats when ford replaced the battery. anyway the truck always started and got me home so im ok with replacing the battery every couple of years if that is what I have to do I wish there was a user way to increase charge level, I asked the dealer and they said not possible....... but from others on here we know it is!!111

Andrew I had the same thing happen with mine after 2 years. The heat here (I'm sure it's similar there) is brutal on batteries. Once I got the new battery I started using a maintainer 3-4 days a week and that really seemed to help a lot. I don't drive a lot and when I do most of my trips are a short distance which never gives the battery time to recharge. My second one was still going strong after 2 years until my accident. lol You might want to consider one as it's cheaper in the long run than buying a new one and also possibly being stranded.

Wow, Thanks Mike and you all for the updates. I appreciate the speedy response. It is a little disheartening to hear the upgrade hasn't faired much better than the factory setup you all had prior. Looking a little closer the common theme here is you all are South - South West, Dave's comment about the heat has got to be the thing bringing these batteries to early graves... purchased mine used early 2021 but its been in the midwest the whole time still using the factory battery. I'll count my blessings it's lasted longer than the average according to you all.

I was hoping to have extra juice on tap when needed, but I might just plan out a dual battery setup at some point instead... idk we'll see

Im in North texas where it really is hot as hell in summer so im sure that doesnt help at all but I may try that now and then just to top it up, I have one for my boat anyway a 5 amp charger / maintainer so I really should- I did see a post before about making sure to hook charger up to engine ground and + terminal just fyi --- something about making sure the BMS software knows its been charged so it updates the capacity cant remember where I saw it but just for anyone who didnt know. I do drive my truck quite a bit about 70 miles a day on days I work (way to many in my opinion!) and have shut down stop start (because I hate it). I used to always replace batteries every 3 years no matter what cause I did get stuck a couple times maybe I'll go back to that expensive yes but way better than getting stuck.
