This one is from the beach at Cape San Blas Florida. It is not a commercialized area just a community of beach houses, so the views are spectacular. We do exactly what you describe. I am heading back there soon for a week, and I cant wait.

That’s a pretty cool spot. My uncle is not far away in Destin and stares out at those same waters and stars. He would drive up from FLA and visit us when I was a kid. To me, he was my goofy uncle with the strange accent and the weird camper (60s VW Bus) who called everybody by their last name, even my aunt.

I never knew until much later that he was way cooler than I ever imagined - Navy flyer, turned commercial airline pilot - flew everything imaginable and retired flying 747s out of Honolulu.

I visited him while I was on a 2-week business trip along the Gulf Coast. What a trip!

Not my pictures but October is my favorite month of the year. Warm days and cooler nights and vibrant colors! One thing I miss (there isn't much lol) about New England are the fall colors. We use take the backroads into Vermont on our motorcycles and head up through Rt 112 in MA into Rt 100 in VT. Lots of fun twisty roads and great little diners along the way in little towns like Wilmington, W Dover & Ludlow.

Pretty much!

Last fall was so dry it hadn't rained much at all so the foliage was awful and most trees had dead leaves on them through most of the winter. That makes it more dangerous with the ice storms we get here because it weights them down and the break easier. This happened tomes backing MA in 2015 during a freak cold spell the 3rd week October. All the leaves were still on the trees and we got over a foot of snow and had power outages up & down most of New England.

There was a place we would go bikepacking in BC, where we would lay on the beach and watch the stars. There was no ambient light so the sky looked amazing. We’d watch for shooting stars and satellites and point them out to each other. “There’s one right there!” or “Did you see that?” We’d wonder if any of them were the shuttle or the space station.

This was way before smartphones and now, with certain apps, you just aim your phone up into the night sky and it labels the stars and other objects you’re seeing on the screen. Of course, it doesn’t label the ones that are staring right back at you.

I just recently heard about Muskoka's Torrance Barrens Reserve, which should make for an excellent place to do some astronomy. It's on my bucket list now.

Our neighbor just got done decorating his front yard. He's in his late 70's and decorates it for every holiday and dresses up as Santa at the children's hospital at Christmas. Sadly we just learned on Monday (at the neighborhood bbq dinner) he has lung cancer and the Dr gave him 4-8 months. He's in good spirit and is still not letting it stop him from doing what he loves.

Pulled into a rest area on I-5 between Salem and Eugene and this Raptor pulls in next to me. Two hot chicks get out but I couldn't talk to them with wife close by. The passed me a couple miles down the HWY.
