I mean it's an 08 model, I'm not going to sit and pretend a truck of any make of that year would be in any better shape depending on location and owner maintenance.

5 year old trucks up in new york city are a year or two away from the savage yards...

If that’s in the NE then for it’s age that’s about right. The cancer has set in and the demise isn’t long off. RIP taco! ?

Toyota lost a lawsuit where they were forced to replace the frames on many Taacoma's, Tundra's, 4Runner's and Sequia's (or whatever their Tundra based Tahoe wanna be is called) from around 2005-2010 depending on the models. I can't see the OP but reading the comments I'm guessing you have an 08 Tacoma so you might have some recourse

Every 15 year old truck in Canada with no annual rust proofing will have the same rust as that does. Probably worse if it was in a high salt use area. That's not unique to Tie-Yoda.

What do they use for annual rust proofing? Something like a spray on ACF-50?

How about an undercoating? Would that prevent the rusting out or prolong the frame?

one of my friends has a 2002 tundra and a 2000 Taco one has over 450k miles on it, if it wasnt for the rust thats still there, wouldnt even be a shape of a truck left, good luck getting that thing registered in most North East States, even NY is starting to get stricter like PA, there are whole quarter panels Missing!
but in this economy not everyone can just go out and buy a new truck :(
I am in Upstate NY and have a 21 XLT with 20k on it, I have Zero rust or even surface rust, it started out a Maryland truck and I am not sure if maybe thats a good state for vehicles?

For what it's worth a few years back I have a F250(maybe F350) come into the shop to get the brakes fixed. To say the least it was in worse shape then this Toyota...... surprisingly it has less than 80,000 miles on it but was a 2012 I think. After I looked at it and had my boss come over we both agreed to push it out and not even touch it...... the customer wasn't happy with us and yet he paid close to 15 grand if I recall.... I would be pissed just for waisting that much money on a vehicle I didn't look at

There are two types I know of, dripless which from my understanding is wax like or wax based, and an oil based which runs and creeps after application, seeping into the areas that didn’t get a direct spray. I go to Krown which uses an oil based. Then I use spray cans of Fluid Film to get the spots I don’t think they get.

up here nothing will stop it, but these will slow it down enough to help your frame and body last as long as the drivetrain.
