I'm surprised that's all that was stolen...four years is a lot o time to strip this to barebones...
Yeah, when they were taking stuff out, off of it to lighten it up, they got a lot of stuff.

Taco long way down! Holy crap. Sad thing about this recovery is it's basically necessary to 1) avoid fines for illegal dumping and 2) get money for the write-off.

I am guessing $500 over @Synfulz guess - $3000 recovery is my bet.

both of those were pretty gnarly recoveries. they explained, roughly, what happened to the jeep, but never really got the story on the taco. that road wasn't anything special. how in the world did they end up down there?

didn't know how to handle opposite traffic on a single lane road? up there in the rain and slid off? too fast?

Idiots is how. Probably taco fan bois who think the truck is capable of go anywhere/do anything, but completely oblivios to the fact that it takes operator skill to do those things, or utilize their equipment to it's full potential. Or even halfway to that potential, for that matter.

I am sure it cost more to recover than what it is worth now.
Or was forced to due to accumulating DNR fines? Total their truck and pay out the a$$ to clean it up...

I still don't see how he drove off that road, wide and smooth, you could take your SUV up there no problem. Damn Rookies cluttering up the countryside!

Most likely it was operator error. Probably texting, too busy talking with passenger, concentrating on a making a youtube or tiktok influencer video, or driving too fast for the road and truck/driver capabilities.

But to play devil's advocate and give the driver the benefit of doubt without evidence it could have been weather or night driving and didn't see the edge.

I just can't imagine taking a brand new vehicle into that kind of off roading.

When I was firefighter, I know the tow/recovery bills for semis could run into the 10's of thousands.

One my guys drove wrecker part time and said the pay was great for semi wrecks.

Funny story, back when Ringling brothers was still a circus. His outfit got called out because the semi hauling lions broke down. He pulled the lion trailer from WV to Tennessee. Said when he stopped at a rest area the piss was just rolling out of the trailer :p. Trainer rode with him and climbed in the trailer to check on them and asked him if he wanted to come in.
He said no way?
I would of done it in a second.
