Is it true that Sync 4 will feature Android Auto wireless?

If so does anyone have an idea of what it would cost to have the Sync 3 unit in 2020 replaced with a 4?

If I had known in September (when I bought my 2020) that AA wireless would be an option I likely would have waited.

Good question! Would be nice to know how much or if it is even possible. I would think it might be pretty pricey. Might be cheaper to put an aftermarket head unit in with wireless AA.

I checked at Crutchfield and they showed zero compatible units with a yellow warning that they do not recommend you replace the unit. Never seen that before on Crutchfield.

The probability of Ford providing a Sync 3 to Sync 4 upgrade is zero. Also think you won’t see Sync 4 in a Ranger until the next gen is available. The Bronco Sport is a new vehicle and it has Sync 3.

Maybe a company like 4dTech will come out with a way to go from Sync 3 to Sync 4 once Sync 4 is out there for more vehicles.

It's likely that you'll be able to get a third party usb dongle that will add wireless Android auto. (At least more likely than Ford enabling it.)

Actually backed one of those on Indiegogo.

Looking at the Ford Ranger 21 specs it looks like Sync 3 again so I don't feel so bad ?

Probably the same one I have been watching?

Looks like the first units shipped in December, but I have yet to see any real-world customer reviews.
