I have a '21 Lariat FX4 which has so far been a great vehicle. However, the Ford Sync 3 system is a constant source of aggravation. Here's the latest...my Ford Pass app will not connect to my sync three system. My unit has lost the Connectivity option and it's just greyed out so consequently it will not allow access to my Ford Pass app. Also,my audio selection defaults to AM radio.I'm thinking these conditions are all related somehow.I've done the hard reset many times and I've trouble shot the condition with the folks from Ford and they tell me the app is fine but my system needs attention from the dealership. So,yesterday my dealership (which has always treated me well) had me bring the truck in and spent time installing the latest update which I had previously installed on my own, but it would never finish downloading.I needed my truck so I took it home and they asked me to bring it back for some more troubleshooting.Does anyone have a clue what might be going on here?Your help would be much appreciated

Is your modem serial number showing up in the ‘about’ section? If not, then either the system is confused or the modem could be bad. You can either pull the associated fuses or disconnect the battery for a short time to reset all the hardware. When the system comes back up, the serial number should be displayed and the connectivity restored. If this does not retore the connectivity, then you may have a bad modem.

If you disconnect the battery, you will have to reset the driver auto down/up feature.

Fuse F9 (Telematics) in the under-dash fuse panel (BCM) feeds the modem.

You might try the fuse/battery disconnect anyway to let the hardware reset. May be worth a shot to avoid going back to the dealer.

I'm not too keen on battery disconnects.I've seen that create other issues.I'm going to bring it back to the dealer since it is still under warranty.I was hoping to get some ideas from you guys just to get some knowledge in advance.Thx so much for your help

F9 fuse under dash, no battery disconnects. Will reboot modem. Worth a try.

Your APIM is probably bad. Make them test it to get an error code. I got mine replaced by the dealer since my APIM failed.

Could be a bad modem. This was something I heavily researched with my explorer, but eventually the update fixed the problem.
