Hmm. Interesting, as I've been pondering adding these. I wonder how much the Builtright bed panels would interfere...? Might have to go the Amazon route in case they do interfere.

Ya im with ya on cheap plastic, things like this i generally like hands on to look it over. Im not as concerned about thief proof, water proof is better for me. Im using some heavy gauge storage containers for now with lock down lids held in by a stout bungee cord. Even if one of these swing outs have a secure locking lid, don't most of them have a lift off hinge so someone can just walk away with it?
Sorry, missed this one. There are two ways to lock them to their brackets. And the bracket bolts are behind the closed case, so no one could get to them.

There is a little plastic cylinder that is keyed and prevents the case from lifting off but lets it swing out.

Then there is a steel loop for a lock. It won't swing open with that lock on.

The keyed plastic drum could probably be broken off with a big screw driver. The metal loop is soft steel, so a little cutoff saw, like a Milwaukee M12 could cut through it quickly. My locks could easily be defeated with a small pry bar or large screwdiver.

But it gives me confidence to leave the tonneau rolled up and dash into a store. It would probably be okay at home overnight, but we do have tweakers that will look for change in unlocked cars.

keyed alike to the case keys and the key cylinder has a little tab that turns in a small slot on the hinge to lock to that bracket

a small combination lock, I use 4 of the same - one for each case, one for a 2.5 gallon Wavian gas can, and one on the Halligan bar

Thanks for the intel Subquark! I agree with ya on a bit of piece of mind with locks and padlocks, they just keep the honest people out. I have yet to leave my bed and cover open anywhere unless my totes are locked in the truck or at home and the beds empty.

I researched all the various swingcase brands and options, never imagined Ford would be having a sale at least thru Levittownfordparts.com

There are alot of cheap "brands" out there and they mostly look identical except one that the lid opened lengthwise instead of width, they all had poor reviews ranging from flimsy cheap plastic, flimsy misaligned mounting plates and low grade bolts. I use my truck and these bed storage options more during hunting season when that cold air makes plastic brittle.

Swingcase.us and Realtruck are selling the exact same case, name and all. Swingcase is not tax and free shipping @$240 Each ?. Realtruck offered me a discount and free shipping, longer wait for delivery and with tax $1.50 more total.

Benny took care of me! Both sides on sale now $189.15 each, no tax and half off shipping, total cost $417.65

Do you need to drill into bedside to mount these?
Definite no on the Real Truck and these brackets look the same. Pull the bed loops off, put the brackets in place and put the loops and bolts back. 5 minutes each side.

As far as I can tell you'd only need to drill any holes is if you have a plastic drop in bedliner.

If you have either a sprayed in liner or no liner at all then you'd use the oem threaded holes, if they sprayed liner into those mounting holes you would need to clean them out. Most places tape over the holes when they spray bedliner. The oem holes are in my bed, I just presume all ranger models would have the threaded holes. Ill post pics when I receive rhem.

I do have the Ford hard plastic drop in bedliner. Thank you.

No on the just lifting them off. There is a place to place to lock them with a small padlock. You also have a plastic piece that sits inside the hinge that pins it to the hinge. It basically slows them down. I have a hard tonneau so they are not out in the open.
Sorry I missed Soupie's post. His is much better.

How well do any of these hold up while heavily loaded and bouncing around off-road ??

I like mine. The only issue I had was that one of the loop holes didn't fit the bolt that came with the case. The bolt must have the wrong threads cut in it. Had to adjust the depth of the bolt to make it work.
