OE antenna was getting beat up on my garage door.
I found one at Auto Zone. FM is no different, AM a touch worse but not bad.
Oh snap AutoZone. Did you pick up a set of chromed wiper blades and some hot stickers too?

I snagged my antenna on a low hanging garage door, and snapped it off - also broke the wire. A co-worker who did something similar said that Ford charged him over $600 to replace it. Is this antenna a full replacement for the OEM? And aside from having to drop the headliner, is there any trick to replacing it?

Had you not snapped it off and broken the wire you'd find that the stubby many of us have just screws on in place of the OEM antenna.
Now that you've gone to extremes, I would expect a more extreme fix like you've described. Hopefully there will be a simpler fix found!
Good luck!

If it isn’t listed for your truck, don’t go bolting random objects to your truck. It may work perfectly, but the rules are the rules.

In all seriousness, the stubby off Amazon works. They send a few adapters for other applications but out trucks to not require.

Cool thing about the Stubby is that they do have iterations listed to fit the Ranger. I have one, in fact.

And yeah, bolting random objects to one's vehicle is rarely a great idea, as is often noted in the R5G forum.

Your acknowledging this shows there may be hope for you yet!

I don't have a Stubby but probably should. My OEM would hit the arm on my garage door opener if I pulled in and they lined up. Have a marker so I don't contact the arm when garaging...

I was afraid that might happen to me so I got the shortest one available. I've had no issues with radio reception.
