Perfect. Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I’ll probably get one lol
Info only....
The "antenna" is for the AM/FM pick up. I've had mine for over 2 years and have not noticed any degradation in sound or pick up of stations.
The "sail" is the pick up for Sirus.

Hey I’m curious, I have the standard one with no issues. What’s the purpose of the stubby one? Not dissing just wondering what the benefit is. Thanks
The car wash in my area asks that the longer stock one be removed, otherwise they claim that there may be damage

So it's general consensus that the stubby performs just as well for both radio and Sirius?

I have been hesitant to get a stubby antenna, even though the OEM one definitely gets in the way sometimes when I put long items on my bed rack (lumber, canoe, etc). I do use FM radio pretty extensively (at least locally, not so much when traveling) and being in the mtns, I really don't want any reception degradation.

good to hear from folks using them for awhile that they haven't noticed issues, but I wonder if any of y'all live in places with challenging reception? I guess I could get one to try myself because it's neither expensive nor permanent.

I'm in the Va mountain area and have no problem picking up FM.
Whatever you pick up, in your area with the OE, you'll pick up with the stubby.

Also, you don't have to pay $22 for one....if you have Amazon Prime you can find one for $13.59....aluminum, free shipping. Same size, for Rangers/Mavericks/Broncos....its just an antenna and the 13 buck one works just as well as the 22 buck one.

“Just as well” is subjective.

Depends on where you live. I’m in a fringe area for FM radio. I have the stubby, the 4” and OEM.

With the stubby, I get zero FM stations.
With the 4”, I get about 6 stations and that depends where I’m at along my drive.
With the OEM, I get a dozen or more stations.

That’s just physics and how RF works. With a shorter antenna, there will be some degradation. You might not notice the degradation if you’re in a station rich environment.

Yes, and after reading the disclaimer on one of the stubby website that these work when you already have a strong signal, I will pass. In rural central Va. my favorite stations can fade out a little at times on the backroads. I don't have a garage so no other real reason.

I got the one off Amazon everyone buys.
Works fine. Only time I listen to the radio is for the Saturday morning outdoor show on my way home from work.

Because a lot of parking garages were built for Minis and Fiat 500s. The Walker Center garage in SLC is a prime example. I hit the yellow pipe with the stubby on the way in and scuffed all four tires getting out, and this was with my standard height Ranger.

I have the Craven Stubby. The only places I lose signal is out in the Great Smoky Mt NP, but I hardly ever want to listen when I'm out there. Great place to disconnect.

OE antenna was getting beat up on my garage door.
I found one at Auto Zone. FM is no different, AM a touch worse but not bad.
