Funny how they refer to the new Ram Dakota as the "Ranger Fighter". It suggests that the Ranger is the one to beat out of the mid-sized truck pack.

I had a 2003 Dakota (Dodge) before I bought my Ranger and I gotta say, it was a great truck. Still, my Ranger is by far, the best truck I have ever owned (so far). Still, it will be interesting to see what Ram does with this new Dakota. If they're striving to compete or beat the Ranger, then this could get very interesting. They have a high bar to reach.

Should sell if Ram prices it like their full sized trucks - below Ford and Chevy. Bout 3 yrs back a long time F-150 guy I know shows up one day with the Ram turbo diesel, says it was nearly $10k less than the Ford he was planning to buy, he's in my huntin club and sure thing a few months later another F-150 guy shows up with a Ram. Thus far they like em. I admit to liking the ram's horn taillights, Ford or Chevy can't compete there.

One of the articles says it's actually more likely to be a test mule for the potential Jeep Wagoneer. Not only that, it looks way too big to be a mid-size pickup.

I think FCA will probably fit it out as both a Dakota AND Wagoneer. ALTHOUGH...I think with them bringing out the Gladiator...I think they may actually dip into the name bag and possibly bring out the old Jeep J10 Honcho name...Golden Eagle is possible too but Honcho just sounds cool I think.

Like others have said...competition makes for a better overall breed. That being said I wonder what that portents for the likes of Honda's Ridgeline? I know its the darling of the car mags...but are there enough suburbanites who want a FWD native truck with a timing belt?

One rumor is that the new Dakota is based on the Fiat Fullback

Could be why we see independent rear suspension

We’ve played leapfrog for a couple hundred miles on I40 north.
Watch when they stop, see if the tailgate drops or glides down...

Many years ago, we sold our Arizona Proving Grounds to Chrysler as we had bough Volvo and their Proving Ground in Phoenix. Flagstaff is on one of the most direct routes to Yucca Flats where this POS proving grounds is located. Likely why the sighting in Flagstaff.... Jmo...a "fix it again Tony" Fiat.

Best,
Phil
