If I had it to do over again back when I had the $$$, I'd do the spray-in AND a mat of some type...bedrug maybe...as my old man bones don't do well with hard surfaces anymore.
You don't carry a set of gel lined knee pads and a 2 foot step ladder in the truck for when you have to climb in the bed?

I have a drop in liner and do not like it. I'm on the fence about a line-x spray in or just a rubberized bed mat to go with my hard tonneau.

Thoughts / opinions on the two?
I have both! AND, installed the “drop in liner” on the tailgate. Works fine for three years!

On my '19 I had a drop in liner because the dealer had already installed it as part of their cheesy "dealer prep package". I added a rubber bed mat because with those drop in liners everything's slides all over the bed, they're like ice. With my Tremor I had them do a spray in liner which is so much nicer! It's a Mil - Spec liner which is just like Line-X and I kept my rubber bed mat which helps your knees when you're in the bed because these liners are very rough.

After having it for just over a year now I still love this set up and would recommend going this route. Although I do like the bed rugs and depending on what your truck bed use is for that would be my second choice. Plus if the wifey is mad at you they look comfy enough to sleep in. ?

Another vote for the full Bedrug. Costs about the same as a spray in liner. Easy to install, easy to clean. Easy on the knees. Stuff does not slide around. Two years now and no sign of wear.

My 2019 Xlt came with Ford spray in liner...I love it and it holds up well, it is not a flat finish.

LOL, I have a BedRug but also carry a kneeling pad and hard-cup knee pads in the bed 100% of the time! =)

I have the ford rubber mat. I still have huge dents on the bottom of the bed. Even bigger dents if i only had a spray. I still dont have a spray. I would still go with a bed mat. My tailgate is protected by the drop in liner that is plastic. It really helps, thougg i fear with a little more time my tailgate will become curved instead of being straight. This aluminum tailgate is not steel :(
