Is the app you're using the one that comes with the purchased Ford PIDs?

Displayed on iPad or Android tablet?

That looks great!
You buy the app first (might've been free)...it has standard SAE PIDs...they have a purchase option within the app for Ford Ranger PID that gets me access to trans temp, oil pressure, gear position and more...

I know I’m revisiting an old thread but this is as close to what I could find.
Has anyone found a way to have the gear lock out indication when normal drive mode displayed while in sport mode. I was hoping forscan would have a way but I haven’t seen anyone talk about it in the forscan charts.
I know it’s dumb I just like that one over the big number/ tach combo that pops up when you self select gears in spirt mode.

Forscan seems like the tool to do it but I suspect you'd have to request the feature from their developers. I'd like to have the gear indicator on all the time.

If the setting is not already in the programing from Ford, Forscan will not be able to do anything. All Forscan does is adjust already available options.

Dang probably won’t happen then. I’d like it on all the time as well.

Thanks, i saw that but I don’t want to use anything external or an app. Was just hoping to keep the regular driving mode indicator up all the time.
Unfortunately, Ford didn't set up their HMI to allow this for some reason...you'd think that having engaged sport mode is when gear indicator would be obvious to have visible all the time...the whole HMI for this 5G Ranger sucks in my opinion...

I can't seem to use SPORT Mode. When it SPORT MODE it doesn't feel like it wants to shift. I've used it maybe 5 times in the past 2 years because of this.

Today I tried it and it took the truck to redline, doesn't matter if I have a heavy or light foot. In Drive it shifts fine.

Then after work I though I would try it again... Nope, 7,000 RPM the tach showed, which is 1000 over the redline. I did an OH SHIT as I took my foot off the gas and popped it into drive. So these motors have no overrev limit either? I haven't had a vehicle without a rev limiter since high school (yes I am old). Weird!
I did that the other day on my 2022. I was bang the + on S mode around 5200 WOT. I never shifted. it Hit 7300 before the system cut fuel and burped a few times. i had to off throttle and then it shifted some where in the 4000 ranger. full throttle shift on WOT did nothin. Seems like manual will let you over rev.

You hit the '+' button, so you were in select mode, not sport mode:

SelectShift™ Automatic Transmission
This feature gives you the ability to change gears up or down as desired.
If the engine speed does not exceed the maximum allowable limit, the vehicle allows the downshifts. SelectShift automatically downshifts at low engine speeds to prevent engine stalls.
Note: Engine damage could occur if you maintain excessive engine revving without shifting.
SelectShift does not automatically upshift, even if the engine is approaching the RPM limit.

For 10 speed transmissions - with the transmission selector lever in sport (S) position:
  • Press the (+) button on the transmission selector lever to upshift.
  • Press the (-) button on the transmission selector lever to downshift.

reading the owner's manual is a good thing it tells you how to operate it correctly.

i Tried to upshift under WOT but it just continued to climb in the same gear. That is the strange part. It just kept pull in that gear and did not shift. older models like my manual ranger cut fuel at 58000 rpms. a true rev limiter.
