Transit/Wildtrak springs are absolutely perfect.
I am stationed in Germany and was able to score a set for less than $200 shipped to my door. Literally took me an hour to swap both sides.
Do you reuse the u bolts or buy new ones?

Thank you to all for replies. I think I will start by changing the rear shocks out with a set of Bilsteins. If I get a noticeable improvement I will change out the fronts as well. I will also drop the tire pressure to 32 psi. The truck is driven exclusively on the street so I am reluctant to go to a full suspension replacement. For those who were concearned whether my wife was allowed an opinion, when it comes to a vehicle, she is very much a “as long as it starts and drives” kind of person. I think she has just gotten used to the bouncy ride. Thanks again to all for the information.

I really think you will see a noticeable improvement with new rear shocks and lower air pressure. Let us know how it goes!

I haven't tried driving my Ranger with just the 'rear replacements' but it makes too much sense to replace all four corners with matching shocks.

The Bilstein 4600s are their basic OEM replacement shocks but are better in every way. They are what Ford should have installed to begin with. Keep in mind those are struts on the front and labor intensive as a result. I made some entries in recent days concerning my experiences getting them installed. :)

I was watching them on eBay an missed the chance. They stopped shipping to the US. They were offering crazy cheap shipping too. If I could get a set for $400 shipped I'd jump on it.

That’s how I am. As long as it gets me from point A to point B…I’m not too picky. :)

I reused my bolts/bushings as they were the same size. It squeaks a touch on the driver side but that's probably something I could remedy if I cared enough.

That's where I keep mine at.... 32 psi. When I had my truck in the dealership service dept last week for "The Works", I specifically told the lady behind the counter when I checked in to make sure they leave the tire pressure at 32. She argued with me that most trucks should be at 40 psi. I finally just looked at her and said, "I'm telling you, I want mine at 32 and leave it at that."
Dealerships leave them high so when the vehicles sits for long periods of time they are not flat when someone drives it. I swear dealerships think they know more than everyone.

When we get our new vehicles for work, right after they take them off the truck, we air them up to 50 or slightly higher. Theory is they won't flatspot because they may set for months before they get outfitted. Sometimes they remember to air them down and sometimes they dont. It's pretty obvious when you drive off if they did it not.
