Side Steps - Yes/No

I am 5'11" I rarely use them. (got the black appearnce package ones. ) wife, and both my boys use them all the time.

Most often when I do use them is getting out and it provides a nice hard surface to bang mud and snow off my footgear. while climbing in.

however get or remove steps as you need them.

if you need sliders then get sliders, if you need a step get a step. if you are tall don't get either

I don't use them. Frankly, they get in the way of me getting in. Heck, even with my wifes Tremor, its not high enough that I use the steps...

I use them, probably because they’re there. They do make GREAT shin cheese-graters tho. Aesthetically they look great. Give it a finished look. Strong too. Definitely not sliders.

I removed the stupid hangie-down steps and installed Shrockworks frame sliders. I put traction tape on the wife’s side so she can enter and exit with grace.

Nope - it has the finish of a brand new tire - it’s a flat, matte finish, not oily or shiny at all. If folks want that “tire shine” look, this is not for them.

Thats a beefy looking truck, I dig it! ??

Hey Patrick,

If you prefer a less shiny finish, you might give Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care a try. Msfitoy turned me on to it a while back and I love it - I use it on the tires and on plastic trim - would even wipe down my sidesteps when I had them installed.

It leaves a rich, matte finish and restores the tires nicely. It removes that brown crud that leaches out of the tires and doesn’t fling off when driving.

Spendy on Amazon but cheaper at detailing suppliers.

I put mine on. I am 6-2 and don't need them but it's body armor for the doors against people that don't know how to park and rocks and such.

If I had my choice it would be hard “no”. But my wife who is 5’4’ (almost) has trouble climbing in. Same with my daughter who is not going to be any taller than 5’2”. And then my poor mother who is 83 and probably just under 5’ - although pretty sure with my mom I will still need a step stool to get her onto the nerf bar to climb in ?

Being six-foot-three, I do not need them, but my petite wife does, and the steps come in pairs, so they stay on. I do not mind them, so no problem. Does your wife need or want to use them to get in your truck? If not, take them off, and you would be a two-truck family, one with steps, one without, his and hers, so to speak! How cool is that!

Just ordered Amp-Research power steps. OddlyI found them in stock at Real Truck, no one else has them in stock. I am 6'1" but am challenged as to lifting my foot high enough so I struggle some with getting in. I am 76 so I guess part of it is old age and part is due some back surgery.

I removed them within the 1st hour of ownership, the 5'10" wife was "thank god you are taking those off" we both had bumped our shins in that amount of time.

Kept the rails as a lightweight slider, just filled the holes and covered them with grip tape.

I think yours is the first mention of power steps. I must have steps for me and my wife. If it wasn't for the cost and me being timid of messing with adding electric things to the Ranger, I think I would have liked power steps.

Put up some pics once you have them and let us know how you like them.

As I said elsewhere, the first mod I had planned for my Tremor was step removal. I don't like them. Only thing on the truck that I truly dislike.

But, while still at the dealership waiting to bring my new truck home the warden stated, and then demonstrated, that she needs the steps. Needless to say the steps remain on my truck.

I believe it to be in my best interest to ensure that the steps remain for as long as I have the truck. Matter of fact if asked "I like those steps!"
