I have the for two reasons, as most said my passenger requires them, and without them the edge of the seats get destroyed faster. With the less that heavy duty leather in my Lariat I can live with the nerf bars to save my upholstery....

I say go for it. Mine were cheap and come in handy for all my shorter passengers. I'm 6'2" and I use them to get into the truck but never when getting out.

Trying to get used to using them. I'm 6'0 and leveled and didn't feel need but now that I just put these on when I step on them I'm so tall that I have to crouch down to get in. Lol. Ill figure it out its only been a half a day. My wife and kid love them though.

So for me getting in I have been trying to use them, getting out I skip them. Protection from rocker panel damage is the main point.

Yay. Rock sliders are next in my list. My girlfriend already struggles and I haven't installed the lift and tires yet. Also I find I slide too much on the seat bolster getting in and out. Plus side protection offroad is a big plus for me.

I think I have narrowed down my search on the Ranger I would like but the only option I am torn on are sidesteps. I "think" ;) I like the look of them on the Ranger but do they get in the way? I already know I do not need them at my height but in my current Tacoma, I do not have side steps, purposely. When I tried some models with the side steps, they actually got in the way and made it awkward to get in.

So Is it an option worthy of it's cost for looks and function or just looks?

I went with the Amp Powered running boards, main reason was the look, I just don't like the way the others look on the trucks. Granted they are expensive and not for everyone, but I'm only 5'8" and Ive had both knees and both hips replaced in the past 10 years so I had to have something.

I am tall, so I could/would have lived without them as a practical matter. But the spousal unit is not, so we got them for her benefit.

Although I have discovered that they're nice to have when I am backing up our camper; I usually have the door open and my left foot on it as I lean out to watch where the camper is going.

Yay!
1. I'm old it helps me in and out.
2. I'm 5'10" and I can just slide out. But the edge of my seat won't last long.
3. It helps block car doors when that jerk opens one on you.

I love mine, they're the ones included w/ teh black appearance package. Eventually, i will be replacing them w/ the shockworks rock sliders though.

I bought my 2019 without them, then went back & purchased the black OEM ones from Ford. (I’m 5’9” & copilot is 5’7”, so they do help with the ingress/egress a bit.) Respectfully, to the ‘nay’ sayers; let us know what your front seats look like @ 30,000 miles.....even with them, my cloth seats already show wear from butt-scuffing in & out of the cab. Only took @ 45 seconds to attach, so if ‘looks’ get annoying, they’re easy to shed.

It all depends on you. What are you going to do with your "Ford f#@&/!? Ranger"? I drive mine around town. Tow a trailer with a lawn mower rider thingy, go fishing and go to the deer lease. I bought brand new 150 dollar sidesteps for passenger and to make it easier for me to get in and out. Drive on the beach and will try not to get stuck in the mud at the deer lease when it rains. Never get in the way. So i like them. No rock sliders for me don't need em. But thats me. And they never get in my way.

Yay! And just for the look because no one ever uses mine to get in.
