It seems to me that Jim Farley is not capable of running the best car company in the world and is taking it down the road to destruction
While the product is still phenomenal, the marketing department has lost it completely and doesn't even know the product.

They can't seem to be able to even come close to meeting demand in production, so they want to become a "car boutique" and sell direct, blaming dealers for gouging (which could not happen if the lots were full)

I say they should quit the finger pointing and the making of excuses, and get back to building cars and trucks in adequate numbers to meet the demand.
Oh! And while they are at it.... slow development of new tech, unless they can support and service what they build!

Its starting to look like Ford needs new, adult, and competent leadership.
The world doesn't need another Toyota or even a mess like Harley Davidson has become.
Rant Over... 'Nuff Sed!

Are any other companies doing any better in regard to supply and demand? I ask because I don’t know the answer. I know I was at a BMW dealer recently for service and they still can’t get cars to build lot inventory. If you want a BMW you have to order it. I think all manufacturers are going this way.

I guess I just like what he says. Whether he's actually doing more harm than good, I don't know. Maybe he's just a politician saying he's making changes in QC and reining in slimy dealerships. I don't know.

True...
Some other companies are having the same problems, which goes to show that they too have mediocre management. I'm just not used to Ford being second rate or mediocre.
The least they could do is own up to the reasons for their failures.

Seems you are severely out of touch with automotive supply chains. There's been a chip shortage for 2 years that is still affecting all OEM's.

I wish Jim well but trying to maintain profit from ICE vehicles, which are in a rapid sales decline, and grow EV sales which is the future, is a difficult task. It's a balance between old school and the future and being years behind Tesla makes it even more difficult. I would definitely take Jim Farley over Mary Barra any day of the week!

Hi Floyd,

Ford was down this path of CEO leadership failure with Jaques Nasser. Farley is trying to survive as the real problem is Bill Ford Jr. chairman of the board....It is his agenda and Farley is merely executing this....

I sold my Ford stock many years ago as the company is still family controlled and subject the whims of the family member on the knobs and controls of the company....

I took the pension buyout many years ago as I did not trust the decisions of the Board to keep the company solvent....

That said...the folks in the trenches continue to deliver great products...be they electric, hybrid or ICE.

best,
Phil

I have read where the Ford family has donated heavily to some radical (IMO) causes.

I bleed Ford.... My concern is that the chiefs did not completely do their job...
Ford has fallen behind other companies.
Not enough early foresight for having Hybrids and electric cars available. How about not enough cars and trucks available to sell and deliver now! Still shipping one 2022 Ranger to dealers driving up market pricing. No 2023s yet anywhere... I got an advise to sell Ford stock from Fidelity... I own Ford stock... Then the next day .. the blast online news feed of the aerial pics of the Ford vehicle units unsellable due to chip shortage taken from March till September... Wow .. thousands of vehicles... No wonder their stock went from $21 to $11 a share. The top execs are paid to have the brains and foresight to plan and be prepared for the future... They failed in my book... Letting foreign car companies deliver new technology with four wheels on the ground to dealers here in America. Maybe they should hire Toyota brass to run the U.S. car companies... Before their are none left...Chrysler sold out overseas..What now only 2 original car companies left....well three now..counting Tesla...And how is it Tesla is way more valued than Ford in a few short years...Just like the beer companies.. Budweiser sold out...and Miller Coors sold out to foreign companies... That's why I drink local breweries beer now... American made and on the ground available with new brewing technologies and tastes.
Come on Ford .. I'm counting on you...

Do you not remember the 6.0 psd, or the 6.4? How about the mod motors?
Those motors were from Navistar....their Chief Engineer was fired for that debacle....

best,
Phil
