Started truck today and could not move shifter out of park . Then it said left door ajar , switching to right door ajar and back and forth . I kept pushing the OK button but shifter still locked . Then got out and slammed 2 right side doors , got back in started truck and shifter was free . Is this a safety feature or was it a coincedence ? I had not opened the right side doors for a couple of days . Also in the past I have had the door ajar warning which really meant nothing .

There is a section in the owners manual that addresses this situation (I didn't copy/paste the diagrams, refer to the owners manual for more detail):

Your vehicle has a brake-shift interlock
feature that prevents moving the gearshift
lever from park (P) when the ignition is on
and you do not press the brake pedal.
The system requires service if you cannot
move the gearshift lever out of park (P)
with the ignition on and the brake pedal
pressed. It is possible that a fuse has blown
or your vehicle’s brake lamps are not
operating properly. See Fuses (page 245).
If the fuse is not blown and the brake
lamps are properly working, the following
procedure allows you to move the selector
lever from park (P):
Note: See an authorized dealer as soon as
possible if this procedure is used.
10 Speed Transmission
Apply the parking brake and switch the
ignition off before performing this
procedure.
E269652
1. Insert a screwdriver between the shifter
boot material and the trim ring (1) to
release the retainer tabs from the top
panel trim ring.
2. Lift the shifter boot (2) upwards.
3. Locate the lower white lever (3)
located on the side of the transmission
selector lever.
4. Using the screwdriver, move the lower
white lever (3) towards the front of the
transmission selector lever.
5. When holding the lower white lever (3)
in the forward position, move the
transmission selector lever out of the
park (P) position and into another gear.

I've shifted and moved/driven the truck with the doors open before, so there's no shifter lock out feature regarding that.

I have a feeling they were either coincidental errors, or there's some sort of system or fuse that relates the two somehow. I'm not sure on the fuse layout, so I can't say for sure either way. But something worth checking maybe.
Yes amybe a dual thing , when in the past with false door ajar I have already been in drive .

Or use this. This and duct tape will solve just about every household problem. ?

Lol I hear you on that one. But it's better to walk away and think about it for a minute than over-react. Of course I wish I lived by this motto more when I was younger and broke more stuff then. ?

I had to do this very thing to the passenger side mirror on my Focus after it got knocked off for the 3rd time.
First time my dad knocked it on the doorway of the garage backing it in. Reattached it with some JB Weld.
Second time my brother fell back while tightening the wheel lugs and knocked it off. Reattached again with more JB Weld.
Third time I got smacked by a deer and it got knocked off. Reattached it with some aluminum tape because who cares at this point. haha
Bet ya it didn't fall off after that. lol
