I was taught a long time ago, when driving in snow, I should shift to neutral when coming to a stop. We do not get a lot of snow here, however anything is possible. Will my 2019 Ranger be ok if I do the shit to neutral?

Thanks

In the old days at the advent of automatic transmissions, traffic stopping and going at busy intersections during or just after snowing would tend to lock up the front wheels briefly coming to a stop, and then mild spinning the drive wheels when accelerating. This would eventually make the intersection icy and the problem worse. A common way to avoid sliding into an intersection with an automatic was to shift into neutral, removing power to the drive wheels to keep the front wheels from skidding on an icy surface. ABS does that now.

Still with me? No, shifting into Neutral won't hurt anything.

You can shift to Neutral and it won’t harm anything.

Word is you can also shift it into Reverse at speed but the electronics won’t let it happen. No, I’m not trying it - you go first.

Some say the 1080R won't let them move into very hi gear when going downhill, they shift to neutral when not needing engine braking. No problems with that move.
