If you slide in/out of your seat it will happen quick. Worth a shot to try and get the dealt to warranty it

10-4 on the warranty. It would be covered under your 3/36, unless they could prove it was caused by a screwdriver in your pocket that ripped it or something. Mine is still in great shape at 8 months/10,600 mi.

the seats should be durability tested to last a hundred thousand miles of sliding your ass in and out.
anything less is bullshit in my opinion.
Noticed after 3rd day of driving the brand new truck that fabric on seat started wrinkling up. Truck is 4 months new and got allotments to fix several problem areas that should not be happening in any new vehicle.

The foam seats on my driver's side rotted out from me aon my 2004 F150. I suspected it was from using the heated seat all the time through several different winters.

And don't forget to protect the seat from the seatbelt because it will cut into the lower side of the backrest. We had a good discussion on that a while back on this forum.

My truck seat is 4.5" higher than factory, and I removed my running boards. Dragging my ass into the seat is SOP. 12,000 miles so far, no significant wear yet.

OP is talking about the FOAM bolsters, right?

Not the seat fabric?

I second the post about not dragging accross it.

If it's the outside bolster that is failing it's almost assured that caused it. Even at 175 lbs.

exactly, visually the seat looks new. look underneath and you see the foam has ripped at the bolster. ill tell the dealer at the next oil change

Sounds like a good plan. Should be covered, there's no way that should happen at your mileage.

Agreed but unfortunately manufacturers have been cutting corners on cheap materials for a long time.

I am interested to hear what the dealer says on this. I am at about 15k miles now and weigh a lot more than 175. I slide in and out every time. Looking at my driver seat you can tell someones been sliding in and out but no real damage on the surface or underneath. Sounds like the foam in your seat is not up to snuff in durability.

The wear on the driver's seat outside bolster is nothing new. After 25yrs and 360K miles, there was little left of the seat cushion from entering, exiting the truck. One day I was at the 'Pull-a-Part' salvage yard and thought to check the trucks on the lot for a replacement. All had ripped up driver's seat bolsters.

But that was a 25yr old truck. Shouldn't happen in a new vehicle.
