If you need two cars, you need two cars. That’s not what I’m saying. In your example above, from a cost perspective it’s more economical to hose off the Ranger after the weekend and drive it to work, rather than spending $50k on a Tesla just to commute in.

I did just this. I use the Ranger for truck stuff around my property. didnt want to put 30k miles every year just driving it to work. Bought an EV for super cheap driving to work. The electric company in KC has free charging stalls installed at every business in the business park I work and all of them are free.

Sorry, that's not possible.

The reality is, that many folks have the ability to have a primary and secondary vehicle. But most do not. And in reality it is probably a combination of inability to afford, and a dislike of electric vehicles in general that makes some get cranky.

I work at a large manufacturing plant that supplies large equipment to the power industry (steam turbines, generators, stators and gas turbines). Our main office building has at least 10 parking spots with free charging on a first come first served basis. One engineer I work with almost never pays to charge unless he leaves town to play golf. I’m talking over 10 years with almost never having to pay to drive. He’s owned two Chevy Volts, now a Chevy Bolt and considering a Rivian RT-1. He’s a single guy w/ no kids and has only ever owned one vehicle at a time. 100% true… some people do this!

I’m going with a troll posting fake news! Ford might have patented self repossession, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a thing yet.
Surely that will be one of the features CEO Farley has hinted at in the EV super truck of the future, the T3. With updates everyday, it will be amazing, " dear customer we regret to inform you your vehicle has been repossessed and we now have taken possession of your finacial assets, your vehicle will now proceed to the nearest Ford dealership".

And then after a week of weeping and gnashing of teeth...

Ford: We are so sorry. We made a mistake. Your account was not actually delinquent and we repossessed your vehicle in error. Unfortunately, it was stolen while sitting in our paddock and our insurance doesn't cover that so yours will be on the hook for the full amount. We will be glad to sell you another one, and by the way the price has gone up an additional $10k and several of your options are no longer available. We value you as a customer.

How is it that people are even qualifying for a $1700 payment?

Especially this guy.
Buyers of EVs are not only entitled to receive gov incentives but also preferred financing with lowered approval requirements, gotta move dem EVs.

OP, I can put you in a low-mileage 2020 Lariat Ranger with FX4 for...$1000 a month for 72 months INCLUDING interest! Think of all the money you'll SAVE!

Too many coincidences and oddities in this troll posting, trying to spread false EV and manufacturer oversight issues. I would not be surprised if this person is being paid to do this. As a business owner, I’ve been approached many times on how to promote my company as well as how to demote competition.

In the unlikely event that this is genuine, why would you post to a non-EV forum (because there was a hook from a Google search, easier prey, people are already intrigued) with instant communication today, you know if your payment is processed in a timely matter or not and when it isn’t, you have plenty of opportunity to get it corrected, well before a repo. You’re not a victim, pay your bills deadbeat.

Not political.

But the left sure loves themselves some progressive taxes. Odd to me that when it comes to this they are taxing the poor to feed the rich.

Article in today's Denver post regards current admins proposed plans on vehicle emission rules, now it seems clear why ford has been so confident /aggressive with their EV investments.

FC sales agreement / finance contract say "We may take the vehicle from you if you default if we do so peacefully and the law allows it. If your vehicle has an electronic tracking device (such as GPS) you agree that we may use it to find the vehicle."

Wondering where is the part that says they may remotely tinker with actual systems, controls and operation on the road while driving for whatever reason or 'error/glitch'; is my Lightning EV covertly a R/D guinea pig?!

In retrospect, truck seemed progressively possessed day before the repo dudes woke me outta bed at 2am banging on doors, windows then demanded my key cuz they're towing my Lightning outta my private driveway one way or another!

Morning prior, first quirk was that charging plug pulled out too easily without even unlocking car. Could swear always had to unlock when I went to pull out prematurely without unlocking. But this time it let me pull out without any resistance.

Then it was that a window wouldnt go down. Brushed it off as a blown fuse I would get to later. Then cruise control stopped showing 'Hands Free'. Then by midday the entire dash screen went DARK except for my Speed (usually round 65-70 on highway), which made driving home that night unsafe cuz I coudnt tell when it was hands-free or not nor rely on lane-keeping and other key features normally on the illuminated dash screen! Scary; unsafe!

At night when I plugged it in was extra tight that I tried to pull out and it just wouldnt come out no matter unlocking. It ended up stuck and I was like it has to stay plugged in all nite anyways; by morning from sunlight warming or whatever it will be loose and slide out!

Anyways the dudes said they would even bring the truck back home to me IF it turns out to be an accounting error at FC. 3am, 5am 7am flew by and I was surprised even at 7am nobody answered at FC; since I'm on west coast it was already 10am there! At 8am PT finally got a rep who transferred me to Reinstatement, where they explained they have no reason why after scheduling 2mos payment Mar 15 to cover a single missed payment, my scheduled payment did NOT process (rep confirmed it was not insufficient funds, which i already know wasnt) gave me the amount I have to wire by either MGexpress or WU.. and to also pay LAPD a $15 repo fee.. both which I completed by 11am then called FC back after faxing proofs of those 2 demands completed.

11am then 12pm the repo co (Paramount Recovery) kept saying they never received the Release from FC, and they don't provide same-day redemption of the vehicle under any circumstances anyway, nor would they schedule an appointment for next day til they actually 'see' FC released the truck on their end; at like 12:01pm though, I was able to make an appointment online by finding their website (DriveParamount.com) and plugging in the last digits of my VIN for next day and was directed to go to COMPTON.

So anyways in the end, i got my vehicle back not within 24hrs but at least within 48hrs and am considering to pay off the balance which is still like near 100K; was 125Kish including taxes etc despite my down being 30K. what irks me most is the dangerous way EV behaved daytime before the repo (instead of just calling; the last conversation or any correspondence i got from FC was Mar 19th email confirmation of my double payment!) and another thing is why did repo guys wait til like 2am to move in like ninjas only to bang on doors windows, hollering loud and demanding key once hooked in my driveway, waking up neighbors on the block anyways..

Now i'm finding the charging plug is loose all the time.. doesn't seem to lock in place like i think it used to once i locked the EV.. so im worried like anyone walking by can just unplug and walk away with the whole charging system if it stays that way! how do Ford even mess with so many controls remotely anyways and when its finally eventually paid off if ever at this rate, can they still do that legally without informed consent?! =/

Maybe I missed it, but none of this would be an issue if you just made your payments (as insanely high as they appear to be).

Now, now.

Don't go bringing facts into an emotional discussion.
