Does anyone have experience with something like this?

I live in New Hampshire and they do a mix of stuff. Apart from various types of salt, they also use that nasty-smelling beet juice - it's a funky sickening smell to me. Yuck! =D

Yep. I use this one. It works just fine. It is low profile so it works on low to the ground cars too.

Beet juice? So they say it lessons the corrosiveness of the salt brine. Making a sticky mess doesn't sound like a win to me.

I like that Erie and it looks like quality materials. My only concern is the PSI. I have an electric pressure washer but it is 1.1 gpm at 3100 psi. I saw one response saying it need 4 gpm at 4000 psi ...

What do you use as a pressure washer?

I'd rather pay more for a good one (I think it's US made)

I use a North Star (Northern Tool Brand) 13 HP gas pressure washer that I have had for many years. I think it is 4000lb.

The sprayer is rated:

Specifications:

4000 MAX PSI

4 GPM MIN, 10.5 GPM MAX

Has anyone used, or planning on using Amsoil HD MP, or similar on the underside of their Ranger? Also, is it needed if you live in an area that does not get much snow (I live in the Triangle area of NC).

I do live on a dirt road, so when it rains a lot of mud and debris gets kicked up and sticks to the chassis, underside, etc until I wash it off. Thinking if I get the HD MP it would help a bit, and would it prevent mud/dirt from sticking?

And, all I need to do, is after it is cleaned, just spray anything metal underneath, correct?

Thanks!

I would highly advise not to use that product and look at what I posted late last night. That crap is in a rattle can too, eww....

But any "metal protection' product is best applied to virgin metal. Some ride on the surface, some like what I used, are designed to go in the pores of the material. To each their own.

If you are looking for a true under coating, to improve upon the lack luster job of the factory undercoating. I would just find the best shop in the area to get those spots under the cab, and around the bed. Depending on the shop, I remeber prices around 1-2K. That is my next step to research and get done locally.

My father has a 96 f150. Other than the cab back bottom on the corners and the rain gutter rust, the vehicle is just fine. Just the usual old school rust areas.

Doing the same with the ranger. It is what it is.

Of course we dont live in a snowy area, with salt or what ever they put on the roads. I know that kills cars frames. Have seen it putting cars on the lift.

I'm a former undercoater and current Amsoil dealer.
MPHD is a great product, but it will attract dust/dirt for a while until is 100% dry. It stays waxy and does protect well and is a great undercoating in general. There's nothing you can do to keep mud and debris from sticking to anything ever. Only keeping the moisture in the mud from rotting the metal under there. The best thing is not worry about the mud and worry about the moisture.
I'd find some who undercoats with Fluid film. That'll creep in to places you can get with a rattle can of MPHD. and they can spray in places you can't, laying on your back in your driveway.
