Please see pics went to the Ford dealership and called customer service. It is not warrantable until there is an actual hole. Seems ridiculous I keep the truck clean and only been through one winter.

The Rusty Bed

1 oz. Rain
1 oz. Snow
Generous pinch of salt
A dash of dirt

Stir together in the bed of a pick-up truck and strain over a bedliner.

Full disclosure - I have a drop-in bed liner - not my first.

Looks normal for a year and a half in the Massachusetts area. I would have that drop in liner removed and a spray in liner put in its place. They will prep the area as part of install.

The drop in liners wiggle around constantly and rub through the paitn to the metal, then it does take a week or two into salt season till the oxidation accelerates.

Yeah, just look at the top of the ridges in the bed. You can see where the liner has been wearing the paint. I wouldn't have one.

Like was said, get rid of the drop in and have it sprayed.

Yep, tough learning experience.
This is an add on accessory, you wont be finding Ford covering that, even if they offer it during the sale.
Buyer beware. Drop ins require added maintenance and inspection whether you like it or not.

Did you try another dealer?
Yes 4 and then called customer service because the dealers hands are tied. Customer service said there needs to be perforation, so I was like a hole? She replied with we prefer to call it perforation lol. So I guess I’m gonna wait for a perforation.

I know the drop in liner isn’t ideal. It came with the truck which is my work vehicle. There are scrapes underneath the liner but no rust at all. Just at the end.

Honestly, if I were in your shoes I would say hell with it. Pull the bed liner out, and do basic body repair; San off the rust, reprime and paint the area.

I would probably lay down a layer or two of Bedliner spray where the plastic liner meets, reinstall after cure time and call it done.

Why add it back in? Cause who wants to have a bed liner laying around cause the yard/garage nobody buys em used.

I only have a heavy rubber bed mat. I take it out often and every time I wash my truck. Trapped moisture is the enemy. That being said, the mat has raised dimples and everywhere they touch is a small yellowish stain.

I ran a body shop for a number of years and can honestly say this is all due to the plastic bed liner  Just like mentioned above, moisture, some abrasive material, add the box liner that sits there wiggling back and forth. I've seen it on hundreds of trucks - every make. Pulled lots out and found the front of the box rusted right through because water & dirt get trapped and do their worst. No manufacturer will cover this under warranty = caused by an add on accessory. Your best bet is find a reputable spray in liner company that's willing to do the proper prep, then get it sprayed. I know the factory spray in liners (anyone's) don't have the proper prep done. Ordered my Ranger with a plain box, then had it sprayed with Linex. I was there when they prepped = removed all box hold downs and 2 guys hand sanded the entire surface to be sprayed before wiping down with cleaner and masking. It cost me a little more, but I should never have an issue with it.:fingerscrossed:

Just have a spray in liner done and call it a day.

By the time you have a 'perforation'... ford and or the dealer will say its not going to be covered because the damage was started by an outside source..... and not a defect.
