Actually it's a diesel powered van towing a LI battery pack recharging the van. But point taken.
Thank you for clearing that up how long does it take to charge an electric car? On average? If anyone knows... My gears are turning

Depends on the charging method/station. Some supercharging ports, like what Tesla uses, can charge the vehicle to 80% in 30mins. Plugging it into a standard household outlet though will take like 8-14hrs depending on the vehicle.

it doesn’t seem physically possible to drive in city driving and get anywhere CLOSE to 20mpg. You would literally have to drive 5mph everywhere...[/QUOTE]

Dunno, man, I do mainly city driving here in south Florida, following all speed limits, and seeing 27 mpg. So it is physically possible, yes indeed.

Yeah, I think this thread (and the forum as whole) has proved that it is certainly possible to get well over the rated mpg. I personally have many times. But some people will never come close based on so many things. Type of driving is one which is controllable. But others like altitude, terrain, speeds, environment, etc. are all things people can't change. Some of us are lucky enough to live in places where we can get amazing gas mileage, myself included. Others are pure out of luck.

I think on that particular image they spent something like 30 minutes and gave them enough juice to go 8 miles to a charging station.

Update to my mileage.

Currently at 4200 miles, been using 93 since just under 1000 miles and my average has now broken the 24 mpg mark. Have driven from SC to upstate NY and several trips around the SC/NC/GA areas. Mainly get 18-19 mpg around town stop and go and steady 22-23 mpg on the interstate trips. Lightly loaded with 2 passengers and about 200-300 lbs of gear.

Is anyone else getting terrible city mileage? I get 20-22 avg if I'm hitting the highway, or faster (30mph+) roads, but a lot of my driving is around boston, where it's stop and go in traffic, and lots of lights.

I don't have a heavy foot, and rarely rev out above 2k, yet im getting abysmal mileage on short trips in traffic. Just clocked 13mpg average today.

At 3k with a mix of city/hwy in flat Houston I'm pretty much at 22.4 consistently (2WD, Supercrew) I finally had a decent highway drive up to Dallas and averaged 24.1 over 505 miles. That was regular gas and with the racks on the back. Not so bad.

Lately I've been really babying the throttle and taking it slow. It has helped counteract some of the winter blues I have been seeing. Just filled up this morning and it's my 2nd tank above 20mpg in a long time. That's pretty good for mostly only driving my work commute (8 miles) in winter weather (0-20F), where the truck doesn't ever really have time to warm up. I can definitely tell the people around me are frustrated with my gradually accelerating from the stoplight, instead of mashing the pedal down like most people do. But who cares. haha

I am lucky if I get between 16 and 18 mpg. Tires seems fine, I have been driving like a nanny, tried different gas, and still even on the highway on a 2-hour drive using cruise control for 80% of it, It barely broke 19.
