I've noticed idling hurts mileage, I stop for coffee or a drink most days on the way to work an I always lose a tenth or 2 just from that. Driving into a headwind kills it too.

After getting my truck serviced for the TSB regarding clunky shifting and cold starts I went from about 16.5 combined average to 20.5 combined average.

Way more acceptable now considering I have 33" tires, a 2.5" level, and an airdam delete.

Lariat 2 wheel drive with soft bedcover, 4,300 feet elevation, 36psi tires and flames on the doors. Don't kid yourself, those flames make it burn cleaner. That and the Wounded Warrior blanket covering the back seat.

Computer says.

My Lariat 4x2 likes city driving under 35 mph, and highway under 65 mph. This was from Thursday at Ocean city Maryland's Endless summer Cruise in. I was getting 29.3 mpg over a 25 mile trip, all of which was stop and go light to light checking out all of the cool cars. Bret

After over 1200 miles with my Ford tune the mileage has increased from 21.6 to 22.7 mixed driving. It just plain runs better.

What he asked and, what do you mean by "runs better" exactly?
I can't speak for the Ford tune but the Livernois tune I'm running really wakes the truck up. Way more responsive and power all the way through. My mpg has gone up about 1.5- 2 mpg driving normal. I just averaged 23.5 from AZ-UT driving 75-80 mph which was the best according to my Fuelly app.
