Yeah I know, but there's going to probably be people who question the pre-made marks, I would, and if they show a different level on their factory stick than my replacement stick, it's going to be a problem, so I am making sure it's spot on, then I'll know it's human error most likely.

I have checked the fluid level with the factory stick easily 50 times, I can tell you it's easy to get a false reading, the Ranger stick does not fit the bore of the trans case well at all, it allows the stick to wiggle in the bore, the F150 one is nice, no way to get a false reading.

I know I clicked yes early in this thread but I am willing to wait for the next run if I was in on the first batch. I only have 3.5 k miles on mine and know others have many more miles and should have early shots at getting one. I would be willing to send a deposit now to help with the cost of securing parts that must be adding up now.

Thanks, but that would just complicate things, and yes I'm fully vested at this point, any real return will be on the next batch, but that's just how it goes, and that's okay, starting a small business is bonkers, hopefully I can keep it going, I just gotta deliver and have happy customers.

Well still waiting on hoses, which allowed me to work on the instructions and the stamping fixture, I finally got the updated stamp and the ink.

I knew I had to make a fixture, there was no way I was going to try and freehand it, came out well.

ok... this is freaking impressive. I am curious what your "garage or shop" looks like.

You have some badassery tools and skills!

Ha, you would laugh, very small but functional, and thank you very much.

But actually, the
badassery tools and skills!
failed to stamp the sticks perfectly, it was more difficult than I expected, I had to completly redo about a third of them, the ink is solvent resistant so it dries fast, it's difficult to work with and some of the handles are not flat, actually I had to lightly stamp the whole pile a second time, they are as good or better than stamp I removed at least... I hope!

I think it's great that your looking for perfection....but to me the marking aren't necessary....if I don't know what the dip stick is for, and what fluid I should be using, I have no business adding the stick !!!!!
I could see it for another owner, but in my case, if/when I sell the Ranger, the OE stick will be going back in.
Oh, I'll take the stick, second row third from the left....

Umm.... A wooden dowel looks better than the Ford factory part!

I know you were complimenting Fitz, and I am thrilled that he is doing what he's doing here. But honestly I don't want to give Ford any credit for doing such a "half assed job" on the "mini transmission dipstick". In this case SIZE MATTERS!

That said, I violently AGREE WITH YOU!, Fitmotor's dipstick looks every bit as good as any "real" transmission dipstick that used to come as standard equipment on even the most modest automatic transmission cars.

Ford didn't give a d@mn about doing it right! And then they hide behind the verbiage of "Maintenance Free for the life of the transmission" as if that makes everything OK.

Yeah, the transmission fluid will not need changing until your transmission dies prematurely at just over the 60K miles drive train warranty. Essentially Ford is stating that this transmission will last 60K miles...

I'm not cutting Ford any slack on this one. Stepping off my soap box...

You missed the "solvent resistant" part?, it's from the stamp mfg, who knows what it's made from, it's thick and difficult to work with, dries so fast, the ink pad dries every 1-2 minutes, so you have to keep inking the pad to get a clean stamping, brake clean barely affects it, in fact when it's dry you have to soak it.

I'm not sure I would associate "excitement" with tooling, it's more like "I need to do a certain task, but wait, I cant, I have to make a tool first".
