Remote start

So my ranger didn’t come with remote start on the fob it only has it from the app. I don’t know about anyone else but I would say for me 50% of the time it doesn’t work. I have a good connection to wifi or cellular and nothing. Is there an add on to get it on the fob? Like with a button combination like on some of the old f250s?

It was very easy to install and has worked great for almost a year and a half.

BUT .... the range isn't very far, maybe 200 feet at the max and, for whatever reason, my unlock on the key fob doesn't work from as far as the lock does. That seems really odd to me.

But I use that Start-X pretty much daily. I'll use it through the bedroom window to start the Ranger (maybe 30 feet away) and then at the grocery store from 150 feet away. They make some form of extender for it, one that is like an antenna and one that uses an app (which seems silly, imo). I did a quick search and didn't see those extenders right away. I'll edit this if I find them ...|

you certainly have some choices.

here's an OEM solution from Ford ($115 + $12 install): https://accessories.ford.com/long-range-remote-start-system-1

and here's an aftermarket solution from 12Volt.Solutions: https://accessories.ford.com/long-range-remote-start-system-1

12Volt.Solutions has the option to just use your OEM key fob for the remote start. You could also pay extra for the app module that let's you use their remote start app instead of Ford's. This is pricier, but this company is really highly regarded in the 4Runner community. All plug and play. Shouldn't be any wire splicing or crap like that. Do your research on the different options before buying!

You should be able to get the ford perimeter + alarm system. It’s an easy install. There is a jumper that needs to be in place so you can use your original fob to control remote start. Follow the directions carefully to make sure it is working properly. Cheapest place I found was Levittown ford

My remote app started my truck inside of a hospital, it takes a little time to activate.

I had the dealer install remote start on mine, just uses the Factory Key and 3 presses of the lock button to start it.

Mine came with remote start. I drive a truck and have started it from Wyoming. Maybe depends on your signal on your phone and the vehicle.

The Sales quote was a little over $400 but that was 3 years ago, I got it free cause I had points.
