I have a rattling sound that happens only when I am making a left turn (doesn't ever happen when turning right) very slowly like on a parking lot. I've never been able to duplicate it by trying the same turning pattern again after it occurs. Doesn't happen when making a normal left turn on a street. Sounds like its coming from the area around the left side suspension system. This has only happened 3-4 times since I've owned the truck. It only lasts 2-3 seconds and then goes away. Sounds like small wooden blocks individually falling off a surface onto the floor. Has anyone experienced this?

Check to see if the dorks who changed your oil last put all the retaining pins back in your rubber flaps inside your wheel well. If they didn't, the flaps can rub on the tire in a left turn. More so if you have upsized knobbies like me.

If you need to replace any of those, 1/4" push retainers from Autozone will work.

Thanks for the input & pics! The dealer changed the oil about 2,400 miles ago so I will have it checked. The steering otherwise is normal without pulling to either side, tires are balanced and wearing evenly. 12,450 miles on the truck. I do have oversized tires (265/70/17) but they do not rub anywhere else so it might be that that they are rubbing on the flap if its loose.

I'm curious if you might be hearing the ABS going off? Next time it happens pay attention and see if the traction light flashes. If so then it may be a normal thing.

Gee those look familiar. Same size even. Unfortunately your truck is the slower color. ?

But yeah they catch on the flap and make a noise, more so with the larger size tire that has aggressive side wall tread.

Really like the tracking and ride of the KO2's! Hopefully its hitting the flap otherwise it's probably a warranty issue.

Dude,
You were exactly right...the tire was rubbing the flap and making the noise! :whew: The Dealer put in new fasteners without a charge because they didn't secure the flap properly during the last oil change.

I was surprised to learn that the existing battery (tested today) which was a replacement (under warranty) for the original battery had failed already just a few days less than 6 months ago when it was replaced in Mar. 2023  The 2nd replacement battery was installed today totally under warranty

I procrastinated putting in the BatteryMINDer so need to do that right away with this 2nd replacement battery :like:

You had a good point about warranties. On the 1st battery which replaced the original by warranty, I was curious about what my cost would have been without warranty and the Service dept. calculated it to be a total of 223.95 out the door including labor and tax. Didn't ask about the cost of the 2nd replacement battery yesterday on warranty but it was likely as least the same as the 1st one and probably more. 223.95 X 2= 447.90. Substantial savings! I'm planning to install the BatteryMINDer today and hoping to get at least 6 years on the new battery! Also I have a Ford ESP extended warranty on the Ranger.
