GUARANTEED to get you a ticket for whatever I stopped you for when I see one.
This comment is mind boggling.

If they are legal in your state, why would you “guarantee” giving a ticket just because of a legal device? Your opinion of a legal device should have absolutely no bearing on your decision to issue a ticket for any other offense besides speeding.

Quite frankly its petty. Dont like them, take it up with your local politicians.

Yeah that struck a nerve with me too. It's like saying I'm going to arrest you for carrying even though I have my CCW and I'm LEGAL. ?

I have several thousand dollars of active and passive jammer/reflector equipment taken off of my old ranger, and waiting for software updates from various manufacturers so that they are compatible with the new ranger. All of this is totally hidden within the bumpers, grill and body. Install is challenging because all of this has to be tuned based on the vehicle configuration and shape, using actual law enforcement devices to set everything properly. The external collision sensors also pose a problem with interference and Im hoping they will not have to be made inert. Im hoping within the next few months I will have a stealth ranger again. We will see. ?

Exactly - You have a right to know you are being surveiled. Just like a police scanner for radio traffic - I get to know if you are scanning my speed. Now I totally disagree with radar detectors as an effective tool to avoid getting a ticket by suddenly being compliant when LEO's are present and then returning to non-law abiding activity when they are not thee but I whole heartedly agree that you get to know when you are being tracked and what radar band they are using.

Sorry - My Libertarian got bristled there.

Totally see that now that I read it again. What I meant was whatever speed I got you for, meaning no breaks (cite for 5 over when really 15 over.) Agree it would be a dick move to use a radar detector to influence a decision on another violation.

Glad you clarified that. :like: It did make it sound like they were going to get a ticket for something just because you saw their radar detector.:)

Gotcha, that I can agree with.

I own a radar detector but oddly enough I dont speed. I just like gadgets. But should I chose to rely on it to take my chances speeding and I get caught, I wouldnt expect to catch a break.

Someone asked me if Radar Detectors are really effective. My reply was; "Sure they are, as they keep the typically inattentive driver more attentive because they go off so much. As well as put a lot of money into the economy as they cost so much and bring a lot of money into the county coffers!" Not what the driver wanted to hear.

Years ago I pulled over a vehicle and the driver was visibly upset and when I brought him the citation to sign. He commented after signing it; "Damn, I just spent a bunch of money on getting my radar detector fixed and the thing didn't even go off!"

I responded; "Maybe you should have it checked again!"

As I walked back to my company car, a Mustang LX, I chuckled to myself as a VASCAR will not set off a Radar Detector and the bottom of the citation indicates the violator was clocked on VASCAR.

The mayor of a suburb near Cleveland was on the radio....the city is know for it's speed trap on I-90 an their use of speed radar unmanned machines. In general I'm against the use of revenue machines like this BUT he made a solid defense of it's use...He said the Ohio Highway Patrol set the alert on their radar to go off at 14 mph over the posted speed limit so their machine doesn't trigger a photo ticket unless you're doing at least 14 mph over the posted speed limit. IMO that's fair...in normal, moderate traffic 10-12 mph over is generally safe. If you're cutting in an out of lanes an traffic an cutting it close I can see 10 over getting you a ticket.

ding ding ding it is Lindale! Now unmanned radar is illegal so they have an officer assigned to each photo radar to "monitor" it. My 3 boys all went to college in Toledo an traffic light cameras are everywhere there.

Believe it or not the most cameras per square mile for a populist area is.... Washington DC! If you have ever been there or visited you’ll know what I mean. Even in the highway’s in and out are covered with them. Real time scanning of every single plate that comes within the “zone” is known.

Airports operate that way too.
Drive near one and your plates are scanned and registered.

I wish I had a dollar for every ticket I've written to people with radar detectors! Good luck, but knowledgeable cops laugh at radar detectors!
But for the tickets I did get from laughing Cops cuz I had a radar detector and got caught.....its the 100's I didn't where the radar did its job so I'm still laughing. And no I dont do 25 plus over posted speeds and live by detector. Not that you have your radar on all the times but I just like to know for other reasons when you're in my proximity doesn't have to be because I'm speeding it's kind of like smell detector for pig shit LOL JK

You are correct. It is legal to enter on Yellow.

However to maximize revenue a lot of these ticket cams will ticket you on yellow knowing you will just pay and not fight it. I had a red light ticket in Houston that I wanted to fight and they told me my court date was "During the week of X." I asked what day so I could take off work. The said they couldn't tell me because they weren't sure. Could be Monday or Friday or any day in between. I was going to have to miss a week of work and pay for down town parking for one to 5 days to contest the ticket. That is NOT due process to inconvenience the innocent until proven guilty like that. I paid the $80 and moved to Arizona.

Also they frequently cut the yellow time in half so while you may be use to having another 3 to 5 seconds to enter on yellow, these don't give you enough time - green yellow red in bam bam bam succession. I think that's entrapment.

Shenanigans like that are what has the citizenry up in arms about this because good people are getting tickets they shouldn't and people are slamming on the brakes at a yellow causing accidents that shouldn't have happened.
I don't remember what state it was but there was a manufacturer of those electronics that was in the back pocket of a state representative I don't remember what state but they were handing out dozens of these tickets and they had the timing of the light they changed to take the picture too soon and found out that company was crooked and they were in the back pocket of state representative giving Kickbacks too it's a big scam I think it's on escorts Radar's website you can read about it
