Question on actual quality issues

I agree.

I have a speck of dust in a spot under the paint. Also tailgate fit is a bit more to the left.
Other than that panel fit is not perfect but ok. Typical for American truck badges vs Toyota.

The fit and finish on mine is world class, unless you think Toyota is world class, then the fit and finish on my new Ranger is better than world class... it is American badged Ford quality.

Toyota is a wannabe General Motors and always has been.
As for styling, if Toyota keeps it up, they just might put Studebaker right out of business!

I've had many brand new vehicles in my lifetime , since 1978 when I took delivery of a factory fresh '78 Firebird Formula (Piece of chit, by the way). The Ranger is the first one that has not had any problems in the first month or 1000 miles or so. Fingers crossed because I know that new cars are going to have issues. Usually small stuff.

You might want to start a poll on those particular issues. I bought a new 2016 Tacoma and it had lots of issues for a first-year truck, At 1000 miles I had a bad rear end, all kinds of drone sounds I had a 2008, 2012 and 2016 Tacoma. All were great except the 2016. I like up to date tech as well Ford has that in spades.

...So far with 935 miles no issues. No unusual whines or noises.

Long term reliability is yet to be seen. The truck is new for the US and in that regard has more HP and Torque, I would test drive the Tacoma against it. The engine is tried and true as well as the 10 speed automatic. Sync 3 is finally GREAT!! After a rough start with earlier versions.

No complaints about MPG, I am getting better than the EPA sticker.

Toyota is playing catch up with the interior tech. and performance. But they sold 78.000 in the first quarter to Rangers 12,000.

Toyota still owns the compact truck market bigly!!

From everywhere I have read, the #1 complaint by people who don't by a Tacoma or have traded in their Tacoma is comfort. There would by a lot more Tacomas on the road if not for crappy driving ergonomics. I'd be in one most likely. If it came down to a contest between the Ranger and a similarly comfortable Tacoma...man, I don't know. Throw in the much better color choices of the Tacoma and I'd probably choose the Tacoma.

Definitely not a sheeple. Buy what I want with 0 allegiance to any brand. Had 3 Fords though. All had problems of some sort...hopefully the 4th breaks the trend but I'm not holding my breath. All my rice grinders have been 100% reliable.

When I lived in Thailand, the Ranger has a pretty good reliability record and I talked my British neighbor into buying one back in 2017. Nice truck. He absolutely hated Ford but liked the Ranger he bought quite a bit.

I have only had mine 3 weeks but so far ( knock on wood ) no issues here. Granted I haven't actually measured my frame height on both sides but it looks okay to me. The fit and finish seems as good as any other Ford product I've owned. I'm averaging 11L per 100Km which is about 21mpg. I think it will get better, but really, that's the mileage I was expecting. I knew going in that the Ranger was lacking some features I thought a Lariat should have so that's not a issue. Although I didn't realize how much I would miss the one touch up and down for the passenger window.

I'm at 5 weeks now and about 1700 miles and I've had zero (knock on wood) issues with my truck thus far. It is my favorite new vehicle I've ever owned and absolutely love driving it! MPG is averaging about 21ish, which isn't too bad for a truck. And the power is GREAT! I was a little concerned about the 10 speed (10 speeds? Really? Won't it be shifting all the time?), but it is beautiful transmission. The power train is one of the best things about this truck. It is amazing.

I have checked my paint all over and all i've found is a small speck of bird s--- on it.

So, I've been following this forum since December of 2018. I was seriously considering getting a Ranger Lariat but decided that the timing was not right for me.

Ive decided to wait until at least the 2020 model.

As I said, I've been reading all the posts for months now and am curious if the issues owners have been having are common or are they rare.

The issues I've been reading up on lately are:

Bad Injectors
Frame lower on one side
Scratches under clear coat
Fuel mpgs are all over

Those are the few that come to mind.

Does anyone have actual information on the percentages of each of these issues?

Oh, I certainty understand that a small percentage of Ranger owners post on this forum so I know the the numbers, if anyone has them, will be based on these members only.

Lastly, my curiosity stems from the many posts that the American 2019 Ranger is not new and has been continuously made around the world...just not sold here in the US. Why then, are all the issues I mentioned as well as others I didn't? These issues are usually present in new models...growing pains so to speak. It seems that these "bugs" should have been worked out by now around the world.

No problems so far. But, only 180 miles on it. Concerning mpg, that is SO dependent on driving style it is hard to compere.

Supposedly that comfort issue is addressed in the 2020 model.
I'd be in one too if the tech was better and the design wasn't pretty much the same the last couple of generations.

I doubt it. They basically just added electric height adjustment on the seats...which would be great if the tacoma weren't already headroom-challenged (especially after they make you take the damn moonroof).

You may be right. I owned a '99 and '09 Tacoma and was looking at the '19 but the tech in the Tacoma is awful. Many things got me to take a chance with a Ranger and the Sync3 is one of them.
