Now that Ford has finally OKd the release of actual test drive reviews, what do you think. Overall, I was hoping for better reviews.

I think they are pretty favorable. Most things are nitpicking as if they had to try to find negative things about the Ranger. If you see reviews for the Colorado or Tacoma you'll see a lot more negatives. I'm pretty excited to see and drive one next month when they start coming to dealers.

the overall reviews were really positive. what really matters are the comparative reviews versus the Colorado and Tacoma on and off road.

I thought they were very favorable and the few items the were mentioned were either nit picky or things I didn't really care about.

The one very consistent thing I heard/saw was how well the engine and transmission worked

The main complaint I've seen is the interior, particularly on Lariat models with the single speedo in the cluster. The dash looks like it was pulled out of a 2012 Edge. Not truck-like at all, and not what you'd expect on a 2019 model with a $40,000+ MSRP.

As far as driving it is concerned, reviews seem positive overall. I think the 10-speed auto is the ace card.

That's my exact thoughts on the dash. I'd prefer the xlt cluster with the center screen instead of the two screens on each side of the speedo. But the other options like led headlights made the lariat still worth it for me.

I have a 2016 Fusion with a very similar dash layout. I don't mind it at all. I actually prefer that it's NOT truck like.

Went to the Houston Ranger Drive (or whatever it's called) today -- it was a beautiful day, and I was surprised there were not more people...

I drove a Lariat FX4 (all of them were 4x4 and crew cabs) that had every option available; the Ford rep was very knowledgeable about the truck and she didn't trash-talk the competitors too much, even though I egged her on with my summer time test drive reviews/issues of the Tacoma and Colorado...

I was very impressed with the drivetrain combination and the comfort of both front and rear seats -- one of my initial concerns are the lack of rear legroom; however, I now feel there is adequate space for additional people, if required. In addition, the turning circle was very, very tight -- almost as good as my 2-door Jeep JK Wrangler.

My choice will be a 4x2/XLT/Crew, but I was able, on this 4x4, to touch the bottom of the bed when standing/reaching in (I'm 5'10") -- Wifey thought I was crazy doing this.
