Question for how you installed lights in front bumper area?

I had this in there, but had to take it out to put winch in.

I took off the skid plate, them just found a bolt on each side to connect it to. I got a piece of punched flat bar from home depot, painted it black, and bent it to connect the ends of the light to the bolts.

I did the same thing for the white bar behind the grill.

I considered a light bar behind the grille too but I felt the XLT grill might not have enough open space for it to shine through like the lariat grille would. Does it throw any light?

TBH, not sure.

I have it pointed down just a tad, so it's bright up close when the bright lights are on, since those shine out into space. When the low beams are on, it spreads a little more light left and right than the low beams do.

If the bar I had in there was brighter, maybe it'd put out more. I can pic in the dark and see.

There were holes in the top of the opening. I installed a cheap 20" LED light bar just to fill the ugly opening. The light bar and wiring kit was under $50 off Amazon. I don't remember bolting it in, but I don't remember it being hard. Probably had to lay on the ground an stick my arm up behind the bumper to put a wrench on the nuts. Getting the wiring through the firewall was a bigger PIA IMO. I bought one of those hollow sharp screwdriver looking things that you run a wire through then I taped the wiring harness to it an pulled it through.

I put these in the actual bumper. Best idea ever had to remove the bumper and the plastic inserts needed to be modified but what a great addition

What lights did you use? And how did you wire them up? I plan on putting some lights here.

they came with a wiring kit. Had to remove bumper and modify air dams. Hardest part was getting wiring harness thru firewall. I ended up cutting the switch out and running thru firewall then re-attaching inside the truck. Put the switch on the dash. Great instructions included.

Diode Dynamics. It came with the bracket. No need to remove anything to install. Look at their web page and instructions...may offer some guidance. These do not interfere with center

sensor.

I have the same, easy-ish install with their brackets.

Question for anyone whos installed a light bar or lights in the front bumper area. i found the removable 4 holes but how was anyone able to access the holes? did you remove the skid plate from below? or remove tire like how to change your oil ? or did you somehow remove the grill? Once i put the light bar in , i cant get my fingers in to put hex nuts to secure it place? Any help or ideals would be greatly appreciated.

This is mine. I used Amazon iJDMtoy for Ford Ranger at Amazon. There is some modification done on the brackets since I have the putco grille but if you don't have any grille insert then it goes to the same hole for the plate number. Instructions is clear.

I'm getting ready to put these lights on my truck, but where did you end up putting the wires through the firewall.
