When I was shopping for my XLT, Ford offered the PBS as a $150 add on in their "Build and Price" web site. That leads be to believe it is possible - or was at one time possible.

"Hello, tech support , how may i help you ?" Yeah , im in a bad spot here and my truck wont start and the dealer wont help me and i have voided my warranty... , is key start really THAT inconvenient for a TRUCK ? ANY electronic issues you have after this install , related or not , is going to be blamed on this by the dealer ...

Yeah...and they'll blame your after market cup holder for the turbo imploding.

The simple fact that Ford puts it in a truck is proof that it can be done. Just get the right parts, and the right installer and you should be good to go. But ultimately, just make sure your prepared to deal with the consequnces IF something goes wrong.

Sounds good, no worries. Luckily, I’m not a guy that runs around with tinfoil on my head stressing.

blaming the cup holder on turbo problems is a little different than blaming an aftermarket conversion kit on how your truck starts , especially if it won't, wouldn't you agree ?

Seriously, thank you for your concern and bringing up the point of the consequences of what can go wrong. I am aware how dealers work and what can go wrong with the conversion. That’s why you do the homework and then make a semi educated choice whether to move forward or not and after I talk to the installer then I will make a determination on if it’s worth the price and the risk. Watching that video link that was posted was some positive information also. Remember, there’s risk all over the world.

Not that I know anything about anything, as I most times I feel I know nearly nothing about everything....but wouldn't something like this require you to also replace the steering column/steering wheel assembly because of the steering wheel lock thingy?

Whole thing seems like it might be outrageously expensive to do.

watch the video on page 2 post number 29 if you can. It’s really not that difficult. They ordered all the factory plastic pieces.

2020 F150, but should be the same principle, right?

Thank you so much for posting this video. It gave me a lot of hope! I just got off the phone with them and it is approximately $1200 for all the parts pieces, labor, and install. I am seriously thinking about it. It might be a little fun adventure and a couple day trip for us to leave Los Angeles and go to Tucson, Arizona for a couple of days. Seriously thinking about it. I do not know of any place in California that does that kind of work and I hate to call about 25 shops and some of them to say “”sure I’ll give it a try.””

Looks like they do a nice conversion. Only issue I'd have with it is this. How do leave your truck unlocked? At home or maybe at a job site, you want to send someone to get something out of your truck. Can’t do it without giving them your key fob.

Most intelligent acess systems use door handle contact switches to lock/unlock the doors. They did not add these. Now every time you walk past your truck in the yard or garage with your fob in your pocket you unlock and relock your truck, kind of annoying.

If you can live with that and the push to start is that big a thing. The price is not as bad as I though it would be. Still an aftermarket system. I'll pass.

Maybe there's a setting to adjust that? I can't remember the last time I locked my truck. If the punks want in, they're getting in. I'd rather not have to replace a window on top of it.

Add it a couple nights hotel and travel expenses, you’re looking at another $500. I promise you‘ll get used to the key. I would at least give it a month or so.

It’s a little pain in the ass when our other three automobiles have it and one does not. The struggles of the 1%’er’s are real……
