I worked in the 12v industry for quite some time. I installed two push-button start systems over the years. Both worked like a remote start. On one of the cars it was redundant to the key - which had to be inserted and turned to unlock the steering.

Your truck has an immobilizer system and steering wheel lock to contend with. I know you can get around the immobilizer. Not sure about the steering lock. Just read that many vehicles are now using an electronic ignition-controlled steering wheel lock. So this might not be too difficult.

I doubt the dealer would convert this for anything reasonable. Try your local car stereo/remote start shop.

I think that's remote start.

This is the push button start.

I wish there was a dealer within one or 200 miles of me that can do this and is known for their electronics wizard. It would be nice to put everything back to a lariat stock set up with factory parts. Hopefully I am not dreaming too much.

I agree with you, but I’m at a loss for ideas right now. I’m reaching out.…..
I think if this was 5-10 years ago you might have some luck at a high end stereo/alarm shop. But nowadays it's offered on almost every vehicle stock so they might be out of practice.

If it were me I'd just charge it to the game and learn to read the fine print better next time.

Making this mod will likely prove to be more expensive than getting the Lariat in the first place.

And while I love push button start, it's useless without intelligent access. The two combined allow you to never touch your key. Without both, you gotta touch the key anyways, might as well pull it out, stick it in, and twist.

Yup.. it's a button. But it's 3 presses versus 1 press. ?
Yes, but it's a whole lot cheaper than the one button version lol...

I could be wrong, but it's possible some of the wiring for push button start is already there. It could be capped off. You just have to do your research and ask the right questions to the dealership.

There's a 12volt connection under the bed that's capped off. Thing is, I'm not sure if it was deleted in the later models.

As I have stated in my very first post I do have the remote start keyless entry already. I’m more than happy to pay for my mistakes if this is doable. Just part of life whichever way this turns. And definitely thank you for your help and ideas.

"Keyless entry" meaning you have to push a button on the fob to unlock the truck? Or intelligent access where you just walk up and grab the handle? Two different things.

You are correct. Our ranger has start and unlock on the fob only…….On our other vehicles we have the intelligent entry what you were talking about. I stand corrected.
