Options AFTER 8yr/100000mi Warranty expires?

Hello,
I have recently topped 100K on my 2020 Ranger. Does anyone have any feedback on warranties to get? I have already had the Transmission worked on (twice) where I was told they overhauled the entire thing (Im not technical enough to explain further). A month ago, I had the rear pinion rods? and rear diff worked on due to significant rust/siezing.

With that said...I still really like my truck, but haven't had any other major issues. Assuming that I keep this truck until rust drops me through the floor. What reputable companies would you recommend?

I have no idea as to which extended warranty to get, but I would take my chances and set aside funds for repairs. A lot of those 3rd party warranties can be sketchy and with over 100k miles, I would be concerned they would be expensive. The last thing you want is to over-pay for an extended warranty and find out that it covers everything but what is broken.

Actually the use of the term warranty for these plans is incorrect. What they are is insurance. A warranty is something that the manufacturer gives you as part of buying a product, whether it be a vehicle or a house or an appliance. If you pay an additional fee for it it's an insurance plan.

We all know insurance companies are not in business to lose money. For everyone who "saves" money by buying the "warranty", many others pay more than they ever get back. Just like in Vegas "the house always wins". So yes it is better to have an emergency fund savings account that earns you some interest. That way whether your vehicle or your A/C or an appliance breaks you have funds to fix it. Instead of paying a fee to some insurance company.

All a matter of what gamble you want to take.

Over 100k "warranty" programs are like "over 65" whole life insurance offerings.... The only winner in 99% of cases is the offering seller.

Agreed. I thought maybe I would buy an extended 'warranty' with the possible problems with the trans, but I haven't yet and probably won't. I never buy all the extended warranties on anything from manufacturers cause I think in the long run, even if I do need a repair, not having purchased them has saved me money over the years.

I have 25k on my truck, and I think all I'll do is add a fitz-stick, drain and fill and add the premium lube people have talked about. Maybe I'll go ahead and get the filter replaced, and add the lube then. I'll probably never hit 100k on this truck, so I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
