So I've seen the threads about alternator failure and I wanted to share my experiences. I am on sasquatch wheels and tires with about 4 inches of lift, stock skid plates with an air dam tuck and I have gone through some very sketchy stuff with no alternator problems, see below. Yes we have medium to low mounted alternators and no they are not sealed but if you are smart about maintaining your truck and take steps to keep things protected you should be just fine. In that photo I had water get into the cab even and was like 7 inches away from the air intake if that. So to those who are super dejected about their alternators get plates and or do the tuck, dont fly into water at 30 mph and be smart and you should be ok.
