EDIT: Resolved but it wasn’t a loose part - turned out to be a bit of a “where the heck is my 10mm” situation.
27,000 km
2-1/2” RC Level - 15,000 km ago
+15mm offset
275/70R17s
Annoying clunking in the front end over bumps - big or small. Has been progressing over the last couple of weeks. At first, I thought it might be something that came loose from the level install but I re-torqued everything just to make sure, including the 35mm axle nut. All is tight. I’ve checked all shafts, skid plates, side steps, shackles, anti-sway bar, you name it.
I can hear it at the wheel when I rock the truck and I can feel it in the UCA but not through the ball joint. Jacking up the truck and prying up on the wheel just lifts everything at once with no clunking so I think I can rule out upper ball joint.
Because I could feel it in the UCA, I thought it might be the UCA bolt but wouldn’t I have issues if that were loose?
I can also feel it in the LCA and faintly in the lower part of the strut. I think it might just be telegraphing through the frame to the UCA. I’m leaning toward the strut. Have a look at the video and let me know what you think it might be, besides “all the mods”. ?
