Jesus that's rough. I've seemed to be at the mercy of luck when it comes to adjusters but never had one THAT bad.The adjuster offered to repair the car for 7k. I laughed at him. The frame was bent, the side panels were all skewed...there was visible damaged all over the car. The adjuster thought he'd cut me a check for 7k and walk away. I told him to take it to the shop and get it adjusted correctly. That's when the repair bill amounted to 14k. If the book is 17k...the insurance thought they'd save 3k because they refused to total the car when I asked them to. When the car was finally finished...parts had to come from Germany...the cost was 26k.
So, by not totaling the car...the other's guy insurance had to cough up an additional 9k (over book). Seems to me the 3k they were arguing about was a much better deal. That car should have been totaled, instead, it was sold as a wrecked car and I was reimbursed for the loss of value because of a wrecked car. That cost was not included in the 26k. I still miss that car. (sigh)
I wonder if one can request a new adjuster?
