I think when people spend $35-$50k of their hard earned money they should be allowed to nit pick. Besides, nit picking and complaining on a public forum helps people to solve issues and allows potential buyers to see what they are getting themselves into.
The complete lack of any apparent searching for said problems is very annoying to long time users. I get it, the search engine on this site is not great; I have better results using Google and it brings me right back to R5G. Folks act like they have just discovered these "problems" and are presenting them to the world.

I look way back at when i bought my truck.
wasn't even in production yet.
sight unseen, I wanted one.
I rolled the proverbial dice.

that comes with some consequences of getting things you don't like, or surprised it came with something you didn't think you would get.
apart from some build quality issues, this truck has been as solid as any of the F150's i have driven since 2002.

At this stage of the game....there shouldn't be any surprises to anyone, but it seems there continues to be. Which is fine, but it does get tiring to see someone comment about X problem, and then twenty guys jump in reminding the forum "don't forget about...a...b...c problems"
people like to bitch and be heard....over....and .....over. I know which threads to avoid now.

I blame it on weening the children too late. Shoulda pulled them from mommies tit before they went to high school.

Some of these people should try building a mass produced truck and see how hard it is to please people from all walks of life. Somehow, I think no matter the brand, they will continue their tiresome tirade until someone holds them tight and gives them the titty back.

If you don't like what you bought....sell it...there's the door....see ya.

I blame it on weening the children too late. Shoulda pulled them from mommies tit before they went to high school.

junior high is ok though?

? ? ?

I recommend a sentence of confiscating the Ranger and no less than 3 yrs of Tacoma ownership. Don't care if that might be considered cruel and unusual punishment

I spent 19 years at a Ford dealer, having seen many many stupid problems, you just know that if it breaks, you get it fixed and don't let it ruin your relationship with your truck.
Some people go from loving it, to hating it, after a single problem.
Some of the "single problem nit pickers" should have been around in the very late 70's and 80's. Some vehicles still came with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty, and with pretty much any American made vehicle, you were lucky if you could get out of the dealers lot without some problem or something coming loose or falling off.
Thats when the imports came into their own with good quality control.
To nit pick over "my truck rides too soft...my truck rides too harsh...my truck is too high...my truck dosen't have heated self powered automatic riseing and lowering steering wheel.....is nothing compared to what we used too have.
If your not satisified with what you bought than you didn't do your homework prior to buying, didn't follow a forum for info, or were in a hurry and just didn't pay attention to what you were getting.

exactly, my 1991 SHO had only 12/12 and after a short while the shift linkage fell off - main pivot bolt having been cross threaded compliments of quality is job 1.

Coming from a '95 F150 and '99 B4000, my 21 Ranger seemed light years in advanced tech and comfort. I never had expectations of a Cadilac ride and comfort and 100% perfect. It is what it is - a truck, just as I expected and more.
As with any other products on the market, you can expect more negative reviews than positive, so you have to take that into consideration. It's great that we have a place to gripe and complain, but I use it as a resource on what to expect and how to correct problems
The worst post here are something like 'I hate xxx about the Ranger, should have bought xxxx' with no explanation and willingness to seek out solutions.

I make changes to every vehicle I buy. Period. It doesn't mean I bought a piece of crap (but I have bought those before). I bought a $25K motorcycle an immediately spent money on a more comfortable seat to fit me to replace the mass produced stock one made to fit the avg person. I replaced the handlebars to fit my reach for comfort an to reduce discomfort on my repaired shoulders. And of course I added performance parts because you can never have too much power. Same with the ranger. Suspension mods for the ride I wanted an a tune for more HP were a priority.

I don't look at it as nit picking I consider it personalizing it to fit my individual wants/needs.

Ok I have a 21 Lariat Ranger , 1st high end truck I’ve ever owned…

Is it me or do people exaggerate their perception of problems??

Having owned vehicles for 45 years and many F series and E series Fords . I get that there are niggling issues but come on!!

I ordered this or that package and it wasn’t what I expected… on and on..

I don’t get the gripes… handling, shocks, radio etc..

I just wish people would solve their issues and share..

My Ranger is the most advanced and easiest to drive vehicle I’ve ever owned… period!!

Yeah there’s stupid stuff I don’t like, like the 12 volt outlet position… so what??

In the grand scheme of things this is really a great midsized truck!!!

Loving Life!! Enjoy!!!
I appreciate your comments! My new Ranger is great and I'm hoping it'll stay that way.
My comment on your post is that there's never been a perfect car and probably never will be. As humans, we're just too diverse to settle on one option or opinion when it comes to vehicles. That's why the research is so, so important.
For instance, the commenter who mentioned quality level between 150 and Ranger Lariat leather would know that just by opening the doors on them. At 40k you'll not get the 60k toys that's afforded the 150 'big boy' trim.
If there's an annoying aspect of any particular Ford, it's this tendency for Ford to play the accessory game, pulling and placing them as they see fit (can anyone say profit?).
Example? LED heads only available at Lariat level? Ru kidding? NTSA ratings aside, aren't they way cheaper and way safer? So Ford is apparently willing to trade an insurance institute star for a few grand?
Makes you think... and there i go ranting again!

For me the only thing it didn’t come with that I wanted was a DAMPER. Problem solved by Ranger 5G!

I would submit some of these problems or perceptions Ford created on their own. Did you cross shop a F150 Lariat? The Lariat package on a F150 gets you better quality leather seat w/ more adjustability, heated and cooled, and a heated steering wheel. It also has an integrated brake controller included w/ tow package. So I was kind of expecting these looking at the Lariat version of the Ranger. Same w/ number of bed tie downs, and so on. The Ranger Lariat doesn't and won't have the same stuff the Lariat F150 has. I'm ok w/ that, and bought it anyway. Those weren't the reasons I was buying a Ranger. But my initial look at the Lariat version of the Ranger was that Ford went cheap vs. the F150 version.
The Lariat F-150 starts at $45k and the Ranger Lariat at $33k so yeah , they cheaped out ,LOL

Imagine if no one complained and just ‘hoped’ ford would do the ethical thing and correct these issues on their own……

well, a F250 Lariat probably starts at 60k. It's about expectations of what I as a consumer get from the Lariat package, whether its a one ton or a half ton or a Ranger. I bought one, but wasn't impressed. But, I was coming from a full size truck, so maybe I had different expectations than you.

The maverick lariat starts at around 28k, yet has a heated steering wheel, 8 way power drivers seat, and 10 bed tie downs.

I just think because Ford doesn't have a consistent identity across it's various models, consumers end up nit picking it. No heated steering and no brake controller for me are a fail for a Lariat.

Valid point. Lol.

Only difference between ford and Bentley is that 97% of Bentleys need warranty repair in their first year.

Seems like no mfg is immune from nit picking, below a link to a Tesla delivered with a missing component:
