My first car and first Ford, a 1969 English / Euro Capri. This isn't mine but one just like it, except mine was Ford Zircon Green and black. Still looking for a photo to scan of the real one. This was my unit student and early wor days car, I drove it from 1975- 1982, and am so, so,sorry I ever sold it. This was replaced by a 1974 Ford Falcon coupe, then a 76 Range Rover (Aberration) then an 81 Ford Bronco, then I took a break from Fords for a few years owning a Nissan Pathfinder, a Kia (original) Sorento, then a Hyundai Santa Fe which my wife still drives, when I bought the Ranger.

Probably the most reliable car was my old Bronco, or the Santa Fe, the Range Rover was easily the least reliable although I did take it to some pretty remote parts of Australia.

My first car out of high school was a 1968 Mercury Cougar - but I didn't keep it very long, and don't have a picture of it. I then bought a 1970 VW Beetle (sticker price $1,800). At the time my Dad, sister and brother all owned Beetles. The picture shown doesn't include my sisters, and mine is the yellow one at the end. That was my pride and joy car - kept it all thru college.

Can't dog a bug. My first ride too, '69. I even had a barn door deluxe. I've a '56 tucked in a single car garage in the back of a goose in Aurora, Co. It hasn't been on the road in 30+yrs

Hi Robert,

My first car was a 57 oval window....put 270,000 miles on the odo from when my father gave it to me in 1967. Loved that bug.... Parked in my garage behind my racecar for many years, but sold it for almost double the cost of new to a collector... In college I was a mechanic in a VW garage after school hours...I could remove and engine in about 12 minutes...

I told my buddies at the time... I want a job where I do not have to wash my hands before I pee and afterwards as well...

Best,

1st Ford was a brand new custom ordered 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 Notchback! I was 19 and this car was a blast! Wish I would have kept it. Other Fords I've had 97 Explorer Sport, Taurus, Contour Sport, 13' ST, 17' ST and now the Ranger Lariat.

My parents wouldn't let me buy a car, so I had to wait for my 18th birthday to purchase a 1969 Mustang that never looked as nice as this photo that I found searching the web.

Being my first car , I never new that the 250 cu. in. six-cylinder was a total dud. I had lots of fun. It was my first Ford, but not my favorite. That would have to be the 1964 Galaxie, which looked just like this one, but not as nice.

I worked my butt off for six month, refreshing everything mechanical. Just as I was starting to prep for new paint, the Marine Corps decided that I needed to spend a year in Okinawa. I sold the Galaxie for what I had in it to a guy who only wanted the unmodified 289 for a Mustang restoration.

My first car was a very used '66 Volvo, P1800. It had 240k miles when I bought it for $250. I loved that car and have story upon story about my travels with that car.

It was 10% Bondo, rusted, electrical issues but it was the fastest thing in the area. Dual carb, 4 speed with a 5th gear elec overdrive. Thing was a rocket. I used to race my buddies in high school and once it got going, it'd blow everyone away.

I miss my first car.

First car - '69 Corvair Convertible. A rare bird, to be sure, but back then it was just a PIA. Got so good at pulling the motor, could drop it to the floor in under 15 minutes.
First Ford - '72 Mach 1 351C.
