I have the Cooper Road & Trail and it is a definite improvement over the Hankook LT tires that came with the truck. They give me a better ride and are quiet too. I went from 265/65/17 to 265/70/17 and have the Ford Fox Leveling kit. Haven't put that many miles on them but they are much better in the rain than the Hankook's.

I did just discover going to a 70 profile is cheaper??
265/70 is a more common size used on half ton trucks. They fit on the ranger stock and look better than the stock 265/65. I have had the Cooper AT3 4S on mine for the past few years and about 55000 mi. To my knowledge the road and trail is the successor and roughly equivalent tire. I would say that the Coopers have been a good tire, quiet, light (only 45 lbs for my p285/70/17), and have worn pretty well. Only real complaint I have is the siping wore away so they ended up kind of sucking this past winter. The first 2 winters I had them they were just o.k. in the snow. Though my frame of reference may be skewed as I am comparing them to the old 05' explorer I had on duratracs that I swear was unstoppable in the snow.

I am currently shopping for tires and will end up going with something different this time.

Well after a lotta Heeming and Hawing...I went with the Firestone Destination AT/2 in the stock 265/65-17 size. Couldn't pass up that deal going on and I had the local Firestone store price match TireRack, albeit only like about a $20 difference. I do like them a lot so far, look fantastic, pretty smooth and handle well in dry but I think they aired them up too much, was reading 37lbs cold and 39 when I drove them for awhile so you can definitely feel the road more than the Hankooks. Gonna try them tomorrow at 33-34 cold and see if that makes any difference.

Those look like a good choice. They seem well reviewed for a road biased A/T.

First off - WOW!!!

59K on your original tires must be a record! Well done and you must be a smooth driver! =)

Second, there are so many tire threads here - all with great advice and experience. I'd say to search and you'll eventually find someone that has similar expectations for what tire is best for you.

I personally like Firestones and had a set on my old FJ40 for many, many years. Tires have certainly improved from that time (the 1980s).

Cooper's are great tires too.

That perfect all-terrain tire is an elusive beast but most are very, very good.

For me, I would like an AT tire but, in reality, an all-season would fit my actual needs. I never go off-road (the closest is the gravel road at the dump where you go dump dirt and rocks).

I personally dream of a Nokian Outpost nAT - I like the rating and liked Nokian's winter performance on my wife's car.

It supposedly is pretty quiet. Although, I rarely do any long road trips.

My Ranger came with the Bridgestones and have been fine for me (I toss on chains if it's really snowy out). But that's for short runs to the post office (or dump, as that's always my dream destination).

So search this forum for the two tires you mentioned and see how people have liked them and also how they look. Looks are important to many and there's nothing wrong with that.

Good luck! And let us know how it goes! =)
I recently came across those Outpost nAT as an option in my search for tires. They seem to fill my criteria pretty well. Light, relatively quiet and supposedly good in snow. Also US made which is a plus. I found them on priority tire for a ridiculously low price. I̶ ̶m̶a̶y̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶o̶r̶d̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶. I just ordered them.

On stock rims the 255/70 17s weren't rubbing or wasn't noticeable but after getting 0 offset rims they rubbed

Being a Firestone guy myself I will not question the Destination AT2. That said if you mainly stick to the street and don't bother with OffRoad at all(basic dirt roads don't count) then a good All-Season like the Destination LE3 or the Michelin LTX M&S will do just fine.

Anyone try the Michelin Defender Platinum? More for heavier pickups...but looks promising for a lighter truck as well.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S.. Over 40K on them and they still look new, 90 percent highway.

Aired them down to 34PSI to start, was set at 37PSI cold, definitely smoothed things out quite a bit but have to put more miles on to know for sure!

I really like the look, I have been running LE2/3's for years on my vehicles so I think you will have a great experience with the A/T2's. Well I hope you do, I just ordered a set in 265 70 17 for my '19 XLT.

I'll second the Cooper Discoverer Road & Trail AT. I put them on in May (4 months ago). I went with 265/65R18 (one up from stock). I love the look. Mine are XL load rated, which greatly improved my towing over the Hankooks. I have been on a fair amount of variable forest roads also. I am happy with these tires.
