For those of us in the IT field, this is nothing new.

It has been known for years that capturing keystrokes from a keyboard is one way to get passwords.

That is why I made myself a hat from Aluminum foil to wear. You should also see me shake my head in disgust when seeing my spouse write down passwords.

Us too, although for both my wife and I, I think it is more apathy than any strong feelings.

My wife's mother got an account on FB so she could spy on her grandkids, so we get all the intel through that channel.

That's why I do not have any social media on my laptop or phone that I have authenticator apps. I will not do any transactions on a device that has social media. Oh crap, I don't use social media. Does Ranger5G count? ??

App: "Okay, we won't" (actually we will, we just won't tell you)

I think there is a provision in the next Fed Budget deal to ban Tik Tok from all US gov phones, and Louisiana is trying to do at the state level. But why only Tik Tok and not Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and anything google?

I don't plan to abandon these apps. To protect your device, it's enough not to allow them to track your actions on the Internet during the first installation. You immediately click "do not allow". I don't know how it looks on Androids, but my iPhone always shows such a choice. So I think it's safe. Plus, I won't give up blogging and earning money through monetization. I bought so many subscribers on crovu.com for my Tiktok account. I want my 13k subscribers to bring me benefits and money. My audience actively comments on the video, and sponsors see it. It's unlikely that my card money will be stolen.

I'm pretty sure it is because TikTok is based in China - so it is OK for a US based company to steal/use our personal info, but not Chinese companies. (at least to the US Govt).
