Filled up my tank the other day with still gas in it - $109.
Californians are paying the highest prices in the nation. I paid $5.39.9 for 93 E0 a couple of weeks back - the priciest gasoline here in NC.

Motors get a bit more efficient as they break in and loosen up.

The key to efficiency with a turbo motor is staying out of boost, hard to do sometimes... between the size of the turbo on these trucks and how fun it is lol

I'm leveled 2.5", have bed racks, and 285 wide 32" tires that just poke past the fenders and I get 20mpg average mostly rural driving. Just broke 31k miles.

I DO mostly drive like grandpa though, I can usually drive so the truck shifts at or just over 2k rpm except the 1-2 shift.

Highway mileage is absolute garbage though, especially if I want to keep up with traffic which is usually 75-80mph.. truck will only get 14-15 mpg then.. thanks to all that boost.

Impressive considering bigger tires. I'm still on OEM tires! Interesting your mileage got better with the tune. I've been wondering if it's been worse or better to get the tune. Thx
Another anecdotal point here. I lost 1-2 MPG when I put on larger tires, but I did make that back (and maybe a little bit more) with the tune. I will lose 1-2 MPG when winter gas kicks in as well. I'm averaging right at 20MPG over the last 3 years, although I have gotten 24 at one point on a trip. The last couple of months (with summer gas) I've been averaging I'm happy with what I'm getting even though I'd like to get a little more.

If you live in a hilly area that will reduce it somewhat I think. As others have said let it break in a bit as well.

These are my stats from Fuelly - I think that big dip was when I took a trip pulling a trailer which brought me down - that curve goes from about 18-22 MPG :

Wonder if the replacement of aluminum components with steel has any effect on gas mileage, would be interesting to see what the weight difference is, my Lariat weighed in at 4,756 on a landscape scale with me in it but baring my soul here and that's not my body profile in the avatar.

700 miles in and averaging 20.6. My commute is 11 miles and it’s on a highway with red lights, so not exactly city, not exactly highway.

I am changing to full synthetic at 1000 miles (not sure if that will help) but it’s going in a few weeks on a 2200 mile round trip excursion…hope to get at least 23-24 highway, more a bonus.

If I can average overall 22 ish mix of city and highway (more will be welcomed!) I will be happy.

Weird the stories here. My milage was actually better when it was new compared to having 3000 miles on it.
My 2020 xlt 4x2 had bad mpg.
My 2022 xlt fx2 is considerably better by 2 or 3 mpg.
So there i said it. The 2020 had about 38k miles on it
I find it strange. Should be the same truck and engine and tranny. And 200 pound difference. I weighed them both on the cat scales.

Living in a hilly area will absolutely reward you with less mpg than living somewhere flat.. this'll happen with any motor.. but again.. exacerbated by boost.

A hill creates load, load creates boost, boost uses money.

Have 600 miles on my Ranger....One tank fill so far, but I'm barely squeezing out 17MPG. I'm driving normal to conservative and was expecting much better gas mileage. Some of you are getting well over 20-22 MPG so I'm scratching my head here.
City driving for me is horrible, but everyone's mileage will differ based on their routine. My routine in Phoenix is a simple drive to Starbucks in the morning down the road or to the store. For the most part I exist within a five mile bubble. For the first 4k miles in Phoenix I averaged 17.9 mpg. I kept the same trip settings going for my trip to Idaho and back to get a sense of mpg over an entire year. In Idaho, virtually no stop and go, and with a lot of state highway miles, by the time I got back my mpg over 12k miles sits at 22.6 mpg. So depending on your routine you could expect a wide variance in results.

I couldn't live without a truck. Its a tool to me and a comfortable way to haul around the pup. My only comparison would be to the F150 I traded in. I'll take being able to park in the garage, and anything better than 15mpg is a win in my book.

I'm not even sure what the break-in mileage target is? 5k, 10k?

20,000 miles from past experience with non-turbo motors. Lariat is my 1st vehicle with a turbo motor.

Is this a deep fake?? If not, why wasn't this an option when I got mine? I love sunroofs and my wife hates them....so her XT5 has a giant one she never uses...
