It’s from Dana that way. I can’t remember if it’s a blueprint from Ford. Or if it’s the way it was designed for the robot to load and unload from balancer. Driveshaft is balanced anyway you slice it. When a shaft is balanced it’s fine. It’s when you take it apart and flip on side or the other 180* is the problem. I do know that there is a replacement shaft for Rangers. A new design that’s taking place of the ones now.

Thanks, a new design (haha) Is the outta phase thing something new? Even though in balance I am having a hard time understanding how it doesnt cause a vibration due to the joint angles traveling at different angles and speed . (I dont think I worded this well) I dont want to hijack this thread. Thanks again , enjoy the site Bret

I’m not fan of how they are balanced. It’s a newer way of doin it. However with as many parts and variances in the driveshaft and the chassis of the balancer. The idea of the vector balancing is complicated. It’s suppose to be a better process. To me and others it’s kinda stupid. Probably be to much to write. It seems to work but I don’t like the weights all over the place.

Vibration is caused by out of balance. Same as a tire. The 2 shafts are “married up” the placed in balancer. Once all 3 planes are balanced it’s good to go. Driveshafts also have to “duplicate” 180. Meaning I pull a balanced shaft out. I rotate it 180 places it back in balancer. It should read the same as the other side. Only when a shaft is removed from vehicle and not put back in as it was removed. Dots lining up it can cause a vibration. Especially if the shafts is taking apart and both ends not put together as from factory. If that makes sense!

Ordered a 2021 today so the wait begins. Velocity Blue SuperCab XLT 4x4, 302A, Black Package, Tow Package, and $49 for the decals on the tailgate.

It replaces a 2008 with 217k miles that my son totaled. Also have a 2018 Mustang GT and a 2014 Explorer Limited. Mustang is sitting at the dealer half torn apart awaiting a new engine (excessive oil consumption.)
You really are a Ford guy! Welcome to the forum!

A lot of us do, myself included. Here's the main towing thread: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/what-are-you-guys-towing.1768/
The reason why I ask, there is a known problem with vibrations or some noise coming from the driveshaft itself. There is a upgraded driveshaft that Dana offers I guess from either Ford or Dealers request to fix it. My understanding is it’s not a recall but a here you go it’s now fixed type thing. There again I’ve heard issues only while pulling. I don’t think that’s right. I believe it’s on all trucks. That’s just me! I would ask about it. Right now both ends of the original shaft has 2 flanges. The new upgrade has a CVJ “looks like the Bronco CVJ” on the blue tip side. This might be the problem with what everyone is having.

Hello, I am Gary. South Western Pennsylvania. Very happy so far with my Magnetic 2020 Ranger XL 4x4. In comparison to most I see and read about, I would call mine the stripped down version. Only Ford added options are trailer and 101A packages. My first Ranger was new in 1986, Dark Gray over Light Gray Reddish cloth interior, long bed 5 speed, 4 banger. Loved it. Drove it for 11-12 years, then called the hook. Bought it on a whim! My then girlfriend (now wife) and I had just left the car wash after spending a bit of time cleaning my 1984 custom luxury Ford van. Driving past the local Ford dealer I pulled in to look at the Ranger. Well you know what happened.

I am very happy with this new Ranger though I would like to have more options in factory paint schemes and interior material, but times have changed.
Not happy with the dealer/salesperson. I never worked so hard to get what I wanted and I have owned a bunch of vehicles over the years. Too much time educating the sales guy about his product.

So I have added black aluminum running boards, mud guards, drop in bed liner, soft tonneau, and Weathertech floor liners. Next spring I plan to install a Redarc TBC.

Thinking about some curb feelers and fender guides. ?

Thanks for all the great info on this site. Stay Safe!

I'm John. We're full-time RVers and just picked up a new, unsold ingot silver XLT. We will tow the Ranger behind the motorhome as we travel around Texas and the Southwest. Here we are leaving Galveston Island today on the ferry.
